We truly don’t deserve dogs and the companionship they give.
Bought her 13 years ago for my twins when they were 6 years old. She loved the kids but attached herself to me.
She had a seizure a few days ago and wouldn’t eat, and she was like a wild animal ever since. You had to catch her to put your hands on her and she was tensed up when you had her in your lap. Really difficult last few days.

Sorry, man. Always tough.
Focus on the great times you had, and how lucky for both of you that she was in your family.

it absolutely sucks, so sorry

Thanks it does suck.
I’ve got a nice place picked out next to the fence in the backyard to bury her. Just gotta get up and going.
She was a great little dog.
My wife’s dog keeps looking around the house and yard for her. She misses her almost as much as me.

I had to do it Sunday... Doctor poisoned her 14 year old body with too many meds at once for her liver. As much as I saw her suffering it was still brutal to make the decision ( with a different vet)... I feel your pain and understand completely.

I hate these threads. Sorry for your loss OP. I know it's rough.

Very sorry. We had to do this a few months ago with our 13 year old lab. She had cancer. We've had dogs come and go over the years but this last one really got to me.
The best thing you can do is find another dog and start the process all over again. Despite the grief, it's what we've always done, and I've cherished the new bonds and times with every dog we've had.
Having a dog is truly one of the most bitter/sweet life experiences.

Sorry to hear that, I had to put down my lab I had all thru high school and college years ago and I wasn't ready for it at all. Still get sad about it time to time but the good memories outweigh that one bad one.

Dogs are family. Condolences.

It quite simply sucks, sorry man. Lost our 14 year old golden last year. I loved that boy and he was a constant in switching jobs, buying houses, getting married, having a son, etc. TBH as he aged I avoided these threads like the plague because I just didn't want to think about it.
It doesn't work for everyone, but I'm a believer in just getting another dog ASAP. I didn't want to get used to not having one, and I didn't like the absence of a dog in the house. Happened more quickly than we anticipated, but haven't regretted it once. We're just dog people I guess.

Been there many times. It sucked every time.

This thread... perfectly understandable if you own and love dogs. Toughest part about having 4 legged friends.

Saw the episode where Laura Ingalls' dog Jack died yesterday. Makes me remember all of my dogs that have passed over the years. Good luck !

“Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion.
There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.” – Dean Koontz

dude i am very sorry for your loss there - our dog hit a root in our back yard and tore a nail off and the Quick (sp?).
her limping, crying and bleeding was heart breaking. you do not realize how integrated into your lives they get, and it hurts like hell when they get hurt or you lose them.
