Going on a vacation and want to take a charter. Any of you guys have any good experiences? Any one you would recommend?

There's an Auburn fan here who lives in Punta Cana. Not much left after Tropical Depression 8 wiped it out.

No. No. No.
4 hours. We made a lap. Caught 2 fricking fish. And they were the yellow stripe fish that show up first on any snorkeling trip when the cheese whiz comes out.
Add to it the seas and boat size FOR ME were the exact pitch roll and yaw to make me ill. Did not throw up but stared at the ceiling for 2 hours.

Our group went out once, the boat diesel exhaust was vented out of the transom and rolled back over the boat. 6/8 people barfed the whole trip
Me and a friend from California were the only ones who fished. We caught one Mahi and that was it.
I'd be careful and research it online prior to going to see who puts you on fish and read people's reviews. This was a spur of the moment move and regrettable. We went to Huatulco MX and did this in advance and found great fishing. A little research goes a long way.

IMO I wouldn't fish there. Get fricked up, smoke good DR cigars, and relax!

Never fished out of there, but I can give you this advice about booking a trip in a destination hotspot..DO NOT book through a hotel/excursion company. I did this once in St. Lucia and it was horrendous, I basically paid for a damn boat ride and the guys didn't even try all that hard to catch a fish.
When I went to Costa Rica I was determined not to let the same thing happen, so I got some locals recommendations and had a wonderful trip. Ended up catching one sailfish, but had a blast and we fished our arse off. When I was on the boat I even asked the captain about the folks who take people from the hotels/excursion companies and he pretty much confirmed what I thought about those other companies.

Cana = gray hair
Punta = tip or point
Punta Cana refers to the graying palm leaves used for roofs.

Speaking of cigars, I found the duty-free shop at the airport to be the cheapest place to buy cubans.
FYI, Customs allows you to take 5 cuban cigars home with you...
Watch out for which excursion you choose from. We did a zipline adventure in the rainforest that was awesome. The guides were fantastic and it was a 90 minute drive into the heart of the DR which provided an amazing glimpse at the true culture of DR.
Zipline
I agree with other posters though...relax beachside as much as you can

Honestly the best way to do the excursions is to have a cab bring you to them. The resorts mark that shite up to the hilt, and while your excursion you don't have to be beholden to others. You go when you want, leave when you want, etc.
