I was just pulled over by a trooper and I noticed he had an expired inspection sticker. When I asked him about it he said it didn’t matter because they are not “required” to have one. Is this true?

Should have done a citizen's arrest. The streets are now just as dangerous as before and the blood is on your hands.

Its not "his" responsibility, but the rules do still apply..

Why were you out of the car ?

I would say that if nobody is going to write him a ticket for it, it’s pretty much not “required.”

bullshite but that’s life.

Smarting off to him like that sounds like a great way to get fricked in the arse by a cop having a bad day.

Good question, he pulled me over for a seatbelt violation. The world is now a safer place.

Sir, I pulled you over for speeding.

Well, then you had to have been speeding to catch me.

You also have an expired inspection sticker.

Well, yours is expired to.

I'm not required to have one, sir.

Well, then neither am I.

I'm gonna let you off with a warning this time, if you'll just calm down and promise to get a new inspection sticker.

No, I'm letting you off with a warning, officer!

That's it....get out of the car. You're under arrest.

No, you get into the car! You're under arrest!

Kinda like how the cop that will turn on his lights to get through a red light and then turn them off immediately afterward or will go speeding by you on the roadway, but when he pulls you over for the same offenses he proceeds to lecture you on how reckless your behavior was and how it endangers lives. Hypocrites.

I picked up a lot of this in his tone. He made me resign the ticket because he didn’t like how I did it.

You're just asking for a ticket

Do not engage them. Yes sir, no sir, thank you and have a great day is all you should say.

He is also apparently allowed to ride down the interstate at 70mph while playing on his laptop.

Police cars are required to have a valid inspection sticker.
FOIA request the bodycam footage from the stop and show up for court with the footage as evidence to bring the officers credibility into question.
Case is dismissed.
YW
ETA: or pay the lowest citation you can get in the state of Louisiana. And its a nonmoving violation. So.

That’s usually how I handle it if they catch me legitimately breaking a law. Pulling a u-turn across the median on a busy 4 lane hwy to harass me over a “safety” violation, all while he didn’t have his own house in order was just a step to far.
