They didn't even rank St. Michael in Baton Rouge.
Not that I expect that St. Michael is the greatest school ever, but to not include them in the rankings is a huge oversight.

That's not what he said. There are some wealthy kids at Jesuit, but the vast majority are middle and upper middle class, the kind who can't get substantial financial aid but also can't easily shell out $240,000 for undergraduate. Newman has many more who are "full pay." So a decent to average student at Jesuit is more likely to take TOPS to LSU, whereas the same stat student at Newman will go full pay to a school like Sewanee.

Also, didn't you go to St. Paul's? Country Day had more national merit semifinalists than your school this year.. which is pretty embarrassing since your like 5 times CD's size

If you're going to talk education, at least get the grammar right, man.

Catholic schools are private schools last time I checked.

that's great, would you like to address the fact that Country Day had more national merit semifinalists than your alma mater, despite the latter being roughly five times CD's size? A typo I made while I'm still deliriously tired in the morning won't change that fact.

There's a distinction to be made between Catholic schools and 'regular' private schools. I bet you don't have a single friend who went to CD, Newman, etc.

That's awesome. Good for those people. Sorry to ruin your morning.

You are incorrect, sir. I have a few friends that went to Newman.. all of which are very smart people. I know a couple other acquaintances from CD.. I'm sure they are intelligent folks.. just didn't live up to their potential.

As a Jesuit grad the following statement is heresy, but the number of NMSF proves there are some smart kids there, not that its a great school or better than one with less NMSF. Most kids who are smart enough to attain NMSF would do it anywhere. They are just good SAT takers. CD had seven NMSF this year. Congratulations. Is it a better school now than in the years it has one or two NMSF? Probably not. Show me not only where their graduates go to college, but how well they do in college and what they do immediately after college. That would be an accurate measure of the quality of a high school. But that is a lot more work than Niche Magazine, or any other publication, wants to do.

If you are Catholic and want the best school, you go to Jesuit...
I would be curious to how many Catholics go to Newman, Country Day or St. Martin's.
Here in Houston, top schools are St. Johns (not really a religious school) and Strake Jesuit. Strake Jesuit is top notch.

well, my point is that many Catholics in New Orleans considering private school don't even consider those schools listed above Jesuit.
