I have a fossil fuels powered machine that I plug directly into my home and powers just about everything except my central ac unit. Oil is its blood and I get to do man things with it like checking oil and gas levels, changing the oil, refilling it each morning, etc. that make my hands smell like a mechanic shop. Gives me meaning and worth during emergencies and I get to live in decent comfort when I’m finished.

A solar phone charger is cool too though.

Is this a power station? I looked into getting one. There is a pretty wide price range for these things.

There are some that are as much as $999.99.

I just have a small solar power bank that is the size of an iphone . Works fine

Which do you have? I've been looking for one. Saw one at Academy for $70 which seemed like a decent price.

Also saw on at 5 Below which (I would assume) is garbage.

I'm not OP but I got this bad boy from Harbor Freight to recharge a marine battery which powers an inverter. It'll charge and run all of the electronics in the house while the generator powers the big stuff.

my phone was utterly useless during the hurricane.

As was mine, but being a old fart I still have a landline, we were able to call people outside the affected area. I keep it for a number of other reasons, but it also worked when the cell system was down in Katrina, and Gustav.

keep a UPS on my TV equipment and a separate one for my internet equipment. During the storm it’s helpful to keep your equipment from constantly recycling with every power drop.

I have a whole house generator, but do the same for TV, cable modem, computers, prevents the equipment from going off during the few seconds the generator takes to start and transfer the house over.

I have so many different lighting options in my camping closet, we have a party when the lights are out….lanterns, string lights, glow sticks, torches, flashlights.

A fully stocked gear closet is incredibly useful for post-Hurricane bullshite.
