Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg investigating after aggressive homeless man on NYC subway dies in Marine's chokehold

Dramatic new video shows a straphanger taking matters into his own hands, pinning down an unhinged man in a deadly incident at a Manhattan subway station this week.

The 24-year-old passenger stepped in after the vagrant, identified by sources as Jordan Neely, 30, began going on an aggressive rant on a northbound F train Monday afternoon, according to police and a witness who took the video.

“He starts to make a speech,” freelance journalist Juan Alberto Vazquez said in Spanish during an interview Tuesday, referring to the disturbed man.

“He started screaming in an aggressive manner,” Vazquez told The Post. “He said he had no food, he had no drink, that he was tired and doesn’t care if he goes to jail. He started screaming all these things, took off his jacket, a black jacket that he had, and threw it on the ground.”

That’s when he said the straphanger came up behind Neely and took him to the ground in a chokehold — keeping him there for some 15 minutes, Vazquez said.

This lady has a good Twitter thread going about the protest

quote:

I’m at the Broadway-Lafayette station, where a crowd of people is protesting the killing of Jordan Neely on an F train yesterday.

quote:

“Black lives matter. The homeless matter..”

ETA:

quote:

Eric Adams slams AOC for calling Marine who put homeless Jordan Neely in fatal chokehold on subway a 'murderer' - as it's revealed Michael Jackson impersonator victim had breakdown after mom was killed

quote:

AOC

This honestly feels like a new low: not being able to clearly condemn a public murder because the victim was of a social status some would deem “too low” to care about.

The last sentence is especially rich from an admin trying to cut the very services that could have helped him.

So he wanted to get arrested so that he could get three hots and a cot.

This is what happens when lawlessness is tolerated. The public has to step in and a lot of times things may go sideways.

Well, at least he isn't hungry, thirsty, or homeless anymore.

I think I agree with that. Hell, even the last couple of paragraphs sort of support that:
quote:

“I think that in one sense it’s fine that citizens want to jump in and help. But I think as heroes we have to use moderation,” he said.

“This would never have happened if the police had shown up within five minutes,” he added. “Then we’d be talking about a true hero. It’s complicated.”

Could easily be an exaggeration but he’s an idiot for choking someone that long

Something tells me that’s not all that was said

I never heard of straphanger before. but basically its just someone who uses public transport.

But then i saw a straphanger in the military is a paratrooper not on the jump manifest but is on standby to jump.

learn something new every day.

At the age of 30. Sounds like he was a genuine menace with virtually no chance of reform

NY is such a dump now that it makes NOLA look nice. I'm serious. Literally has naked homeless crackheads on every corner.

This is the state liberals want to create. Allow lawlessness to prevail by not punishing violent criminals and also punish anyone who dares to fight back. The perfect example was the clerk at the bodega who was charged with murder by the DA because he had the audacity to defend himself against a guy who was brutally attacking him.

You could argue that Bernie Goetz taking matters in hand on the subway was the start of the clean up of NYC.
