I mean yes, but it is just a % of what they've found/eliminated so far. So, its not like both can't happen.
Wishful thinking if it gets people understanding the personal impact of government waste instead of it being some abstract "it doesn't affect me" attitude, i'm all for it.

Until congress passes laws to prevent the refunding of items being cut there should not be any type of check to anyone. Good luck getting this done.
If there is a check, it should only go to people who actually pay federal taxes. They didn't waste everyone's money, just the taxpayers.

This isn't the Politics Board and some of you crusty frickers need to learn to lighten up sometimes and learn how to turn your politics switch off every once in a while

Pro: I could buy the new guitar that I really want.
Con: I would have to get rid of another one to make room for it.

Yea I mean if they're saving money, put it towards the debt. Kind of defeats the purpose of cutting costs if you're just going to give it away.

They already have my money. Pay off the debt.

It’s not a stimulus check.

This.
I get wanting to pay down debt instead, but give me my money back and I'll pay down some of my own debt.

Id prefer that it be a $5k tax break for tax payers.
Non payers shouldn't get shite.

Hopefully they'd just send it to people that have filed federal taxes in the last 5 or so years (and that are still alive).

Pros: everyone could use a little money
Cons: They need to cut spending below revenue and out us in a surplus or else we’re just borrowing/printing money and this will cause another inflation spike.

Make it an advance on a non-refundable tax credit.

Pros: I can buy some shite I've been wanting for a while
Cons: None
Cons: it does nothing to fix the inflation problem. We're still running a budget deficit. We're still $36 trillion in debt and paying over $800 billion a year just to cover the interest on that debt. We spend the same amount of money on debt interest as we spend on the entire defense budget.
$5000 checks would be nice in the short term, but in the long term its better to use that money to balance the budget and pay off some of the federal debt.
ETA: to put it into perspsective, this would be like you having $60k in credit card debt and finding $100 bill in your sofa cushion. Are you going to put that $100 towards paying down your credit card balance? Or are you going to spend it on booze and scratch offs?

I have yet to see proof that they've found any of this stuff. All I see are tweets that some people are accepting as gospel based on their confirmation bias.
I'm sure there's waste, fraud and abuse out there. I'm also pretty sure it's orders of magnitude less than the trillions Musk is claiming to have found.

Pros : I could pay 1/2 of what I owe.
Con’s: I still owe another $5,000

Lmao, no one is getting a $5000 dollar check. Musk and DOGE are just lying about everything, and they aren't doing shite except firing people.
