Buddy told me last night that he is proposing to his GF next month on her birthday. Said he wasn’t getting her a birthday gift because he’s already dropping between 8k-10k on a ring. I told him he’s fricking up by not having a gift also.

What say the wise OT?

She’ll forget all about an extra gift if she tells him yes

You think she’s going to remember the $30 exfoliating set when she just got a 5 figure ring?

He will be fine

That’s a lot of money on a ring.

What? An 8-10k ring isn’t enough?

If he gives her the ring on her birthday and they don't get married, he can't get the ring back.

Tell him to do it another day.

Don’t set the bar too high by going overboard in the early years. He’ll fall short ever after.

Just the ring, no additional gift.

That is simply insane. I found a simple aquamarine ring I would love to have from Tiffany's for $200.00.

Exactly. If a 8-10k ring isn’t enough, that would be a major red flag for moving forward with marriage

8-10k?????? Why waste so much money? Even if I could afford to buy that, I wouldn't.

Anything over 3k is incredibly nuts. It's just a circle and a rock that should fit comfortably on a finger.

....tell the idiot to buy her a bday present though.

She keeps the ring in the divorce. Propose the day before. Buy her a gift in her bday.
