KitchenAid stand mixers. Got one recently and smoked it the first time I used it. Noticed the “St. Joseph, Michigan” stamp isn’t on the new ones. Yep, they’re now assembled using Chinese junk parts.

Guess Who, Operation, Trouble, etc.
They are made of such crappy flimsy cardboard. It's so cheaply made.

Anyone defending German cars nowadays probably bought his wife one and doesn't want to feel stupid. I can't imagine any other explanation for such willful blindness to the facts.
i have a good mechanic here in nashville and he'll work on most anything i bring him but if i mention BMW or Audi he throws his hands up and says 'why don't you just throw your wallet out into the street?'

Yes, I was being over the top, German cars certainly last beyond 50,000 miles but they'll have multiple thousands in repair bills after relatively few miles versus a Japanese alternative. Wildly different resale values (and German only repair costs) after 5, 10 and 15 years confirm the reality.

I think the original are still just as good. These are all i buy.
The bullshite "multi surface" version are taking more and more shelf space and those are definitely not the same or any better than average paper towels

This really has me thinking.
Is this all just a race to the bottom?
Like the corner cutting, size reduction, decline in quality of EVERYTHING has to stop SOMEWHERE right?
But if the goal of a company is to make more profits… and the ways to doing that are what I listed above ….
Will we end up with potato chips made of literal air while we drive to work in a car that lasts 500 miles at most?

I quit chemical cake, i.e. little Debbie’s and will just buy a slice of bakery cake and eat a couple bites per day for a quick fix. One slice can last a week. Seems nothing is the same anymore no matter what we buy.

And increasing prices so that pet ownership is unaffordable. I will never use a PE vet unless it’s like med vet for an emergency bc mine is close. Those PE vets don’t care one bit about their patients. Only profit.

I think the sweet spot for vehicles was circa 2004 to 2016. After that, manufacturers trying to comply with CAFE and emissions standards added ever more complexity.

That’s capitalism for you. But theoretically, some other potato chip company will step forward and offer a good chip that people want.
