Growing up in an America that was great.
No political correctness.
People dressed nicely, or at least made attempts in public.
Working hard was rewarded.
Welfare was an assist to get you back into the workforce.
Zero ebonics but occasional city jive speak.
Firm handshakes to seal a deal.
People standing for the National Anthem.
Exchanging pounds, francs, and Deutschmark all from a single trip.
No TSA - thanks muzzies.
Protests were very rare.
Most everyone respected the election process and results.
... I could go on for hours.

Let’s be fair- Islamic terror is only a pretext. Bin Laden was a bit too rich to be organic and wtf was the Pulse shooter’s father at the White House? We were going to get the TSA regardless

Busy signals on phones.

Being out of touch w friends for weeks if they went out of town

Getting a letter from your girlfriend

Finding bottles for refund money

Parents that allowed you to make little mistakes so you learned to not make huge ones

Water filled blisters from sunburns

Radio contests

Rotary phones and a radio contest sucked so bad

Chicken pox

Sitting around with your friends in their room for hours trying to beat Zelda

Playing sports with neighborhood kids

Little League.... I know it still exists but I weep for teens today who think the only point of playing LL is to get ready for HS ball.

This is something that I think people underestimate. Being tracked and “reachable” 24/7 is having a profound impact on society and children.

Walking to school.
Cutting the grass with a push mower.
Working a part time job at a real hardware store.
Riding your bike with friends all over town during the summers.
Watching lightining bugs on a warm spring evening.
Sleeping at night with a box fan during Septembers in West LaVille dorm.

Having to memorize about 25-50 phone numbers of friends and family. I don't even know my kid's cell numbers today.

Rewinding a VHS tape or being fined

On a VHS player you had to rent and leave a deposit for. The player was wrapped in a case that would survive a 100 ft drop.
