I personally don't want to hear "frick" in every sentence, irl or tv show. Trashy

I tried to watch Deadpool but in the first 5 minutes, he said he was going to rip off a guy's head and piss down his throat or something like that.
I turned it ott.
it's my right.
I don't mind some language but when it's for no point, it's a turnoff.

So if Deadpool didn’t curse you’d have been turned on by him?

The media we consume is a form of food for our minds and souls. I do my best to limit the stuff that I consider bad food.
You feel free to watch what you want, but in my opinion the culture is worse off for consuming a lot of such content (I realize it’s good or bad in the eye of the beholder), and it’s getting worse.

Why do you need them to like what you do so bad?

The only person I know who says that is my mom and I’m pretty sure she just tells me that because she’s my mom.
I get it though. Everyone has things they’d rather avoid I suppose. I don’t like gratuitous violence or overly angry content in general. Just not my vibe. Language doesn’t register at all to me though.

I will turn the movie off if it is the clean/non-cursing version.
Absofrickinglutely. I've heard and said way worse things than what I'll ever hear in a movie.

I curse way too much, especially at work or around the guys. Obviously no amount of cursing in movies bothers me. Also does’t bother me if there is no cursing at all. My wife on the other hand will absolutely quit watching a movie if it’s too much. I have tried to get her to watch Pulp Fiction on multiple occasions and she can’t make it ten minutes.

Eh. The older I get, the less I'm into movies with far too much action and anxiety inducing plot lines.
I still love degenerate type stuff like Wolf of Wall Street, so it's not really about "adult content". I just have grown tired of trying to chill in the living room, and my husband is nowhere to be found while having left it on someone's face getting beaten in every 10 minutes.
I say this as someone who would rank Casino in my top 10.

I use to turn off Whiskey and Wine because T-Bob just yelled expletives and it got old. Does that count?

Sticks & Stones you guys
Words can't hurt you
Can you imagine these films with any less colorful dialogue?

‘I’ve stopped watching movies before because of gratuitous cursing. It becomes grating.

I think using a 5 yr old to say F--- or Sh-- for comic relief is the lowest form of entertainment. It immediately makes me want to turn the channel (though I don't always do it). I also can't stand females cussing like a sailor. We are a society without boundries or decorum. Yes, I'm old.

What do you think about adults who say they were watching something on TV but had to turn it off because of the language or content?
If they can’t enjoy a good show because it’s too raw for them then that’s their business
I judge them silently, of course, and think they are weak, but that’s my business
Posted on 12/10/25 at 7:38 am to RoosterCogburn585
I don’t watch reality tv ( staged) and won’t watch queers but don’t judge those who do nor give a shite about the rest …. Doesn’t affect me either way

My mother will do shite like that, clutching pearls as the supposed "immorality" of "such language," before moving the conversation to more polite topics, like how much of a gold-bricking whore the neighbor is; what a slut my dad's first cousin is for being married four or five times; how she thinks my sister's church is a cult because it's not part of a major denomination and has a black ceiling (? yeah, I don't know, but she thinks it's an issue); or how the dude who used to work for her that was a miserable pos finally joined AA and tried to make amends for his past deeds but she's not ready to even consider forgiveness for him -- you know, Christ-like behaviors and such.

I think people are free to not watch whatever they want.

Why is it they are fragile? Perhaps it's just that you are broken.
