And you'd think they would if private schools were better at educating students on the whole.
Exactly, when the best and brightest students don't have non-educational factors to push them out of public schools, those public schools thrive.

when adjusted for demographics.
Yea, I want to see how exactly they adjusted for this and exactly how subjective the adjustment factor is.
I can do a study to prove what I want as along as I can use adjustment factors...

The only place where kids are sent to private schools are locations where the public schools blow. Like most of SELA for example.
So instead of focusing on places where the public schools blow they do a study where the public schools are decent (on average the rest of America) and then argue theres no benefit to private school education.

In that years-long study, there were 1,364 families that became study participants, with ethnicity and household income largely representative of the U.S. population, though Pianta and Ansari looked at 1,097 of those children for their analysis.

Sooooo..... cultural environment, peer influence, and parental involvement are factors!?!
Shocking, groundbreaking stuff.

Do they factor in the degrading of scores and achievements when you put the honors kids in with the future Angola class of 2019?

Study is horseshite. Private school is still better. Also, the last people on earth, and I do mean the very last people on earth, that should ever be allowed to do such a difficult analysis are people with an Ed.D. They are downright dangerous with numbers.

That's not entirely true. They said the education is even. They didn't say private schools lacked other benefits.

I think what is a bit confusing is the term "private school". This study is using "private school" to refer to charter schools which are private but not in the traditional sense such as Louisianan private schools. Charter schools are being established in urban areas of Texas and other states and siphoning students from urban public schools. These are generally minority students in districts that have schools with low ratings. The problem is the state of Texas takes the money that would have gone to the student's public school and gives it to the charter school thereby reducing funding for the public schools and increasing funding for private charter schools. It is a huge money grab by private corporations which in turn starves public schools of money. This is not the first study showing these charter schools are doing a worse job of educating these students.

Plenty of interest, but the cost makes it better to join forces. ND of Crowley serves at least 2 parishes...like jeff Davis
Kids just drive 20 15 minutes to school each day. Like a drive across a larger town.

IQ / natural aptitude matter too.
Well, of course. But two parent, economically successful households overwhelmingly have abov average IQs that are then passed on to their children. It’s not like IQ is randomly distributed across socioeconomic classes.

A made up study probably brought to you by former Obama administration officials.

My children have to attend private school because it is part of their white privilege.

Learning happens at home, bruh. The school is just responsible for presenting the info and testing. Schools aren’t the problem, the parents are.
Well that is just a fricking great insight for decent parents whose problem is the other shitty parents whose kids go to the public school they avoid by sending their kids to a private school.

As did lots of us. Private schools aren't some magical formula to automatically make all kids smarter.
But they are a GREAT way to get the frick away from trashy ghetto people and their trashy ghetto ways.

Oh, if they're including the charter school scam, that definitely skews data. Those are basically public schools with uniforms and more discipline.

To be fair, many of the better Catholic schools only use religion for religion class in the lower grades.
In highschool, at the latest, it becomes a mix of history and ethics, with a bit of philosophy depending on the teacher.

Yeah, but if you surround your kids with trashy poor kids all day every day, they pick up trashy poor kid traits.
That will serve them poorly in life.
Surround them with classy, well-mannered wealthy kids, and they learn how to conduct themselves in a way that is conducive to a long career in a professional role.
