what? Not even close. You are looking at federal only which makes up like 10% of all prisoners and the percentage of drug related incarcerations are less than 50%
In state prisons where the bulk of prisoners are held its around 10%
If you are talking about people just in jail for possession of narcotics it’s in the low single digit percentage

Absolute fact. Some of these shithole parish prisons are a mixture of DOC inmates, local inmates, and shipped in inmates from another parish.
The shithole parish makes money off the DOC inmates and the other parish inmates.

GEO Group is scum of the Earth. California gets a lot wrong, but banning private prisons and legalizing pot are two things they absolutely nailed.

Private prisons are bad. I would suspect a corrupt Sheriff running a public parish prison in Louisiana might be worse. I think Dr. Wayne Parent opined that the most powerful man in over half the Parishes in Louisiana is the Sheriff. Or maybe I made that up. Either way, it is true for most parishes.

First time I ever got high was at one of the founders of CCA's house. I used to think that was funny. Now I think it's sad that the house I was smoking in was paid for by people doing that exact same thing who had their freedom taken away. The War on Drugs can eat a sweaty dick.

I think for profit prisons are an insanely evil institution that should be nationalized immediately. Much of the evils of the drug war and other issues in our penal system can be traced to these institutions. If the state is going to hand out a punishment then it is their duty to enforce it.

Are you talking about utility deregulation? Because natural gas has always been private/competitive from the wellhead until it reaches the utility distribution grid.
Also, most of those utility companies were always private too. They’ve just have local monopolies.
Honestly the idea of natural gas utility deregulation makes a lot more sense to me than the electrical side because it’s a business model that already works upstream and midstream - multiple producers sharing a common carrier pipeline network.
Anyhow not trying to derail the thread, just thought it was an interesting comment.
