For People having trouble listening to his stuff online, Tidal has his entire catalogue for listening.
Just sign up for a free 30 day trial and you get every Prince album.
Thanks for the tip. I loved his 80's work but wasn't too familiar with all the albums he put out after that. I did stumble across 3121 a few years ago, and thought it was great.

People know him as a pop icon of the 80's, but the guy could do it all and helped write a shite load of songs that you had know idea he touched.
In general, people don't realize how ridiculous he was with the guitar, but most famous guitarist know the guy is an all time great.
think that's what some aren't getting on MB when they put him up there with the greats. Do other artists have a deeper cataologue? Probably. Not sure many if any can do all the things he could do, on his level.

Holy shite, he rocked the Super Bowl Halftime Show. That was by far the best one...and damn, he rocked the shite out of that guitar. Found memories of the summer of 1984. The LA Olympics and Prince with Purple Rain. Will never be one like him in our lifetime. And Gett Off is my favorite song...so raunchy but damn soulful.

really like these stories. For some reason I've heard so little inside stuff like this about him even though I was a huge fan when I was younger.
There are a ton of them about Prince
Hell, he even offered Purple Rain to Stevie Nicks but she turned it down because she said it was too big for her:
quote:
As we previously reported, the unlikely duo got its start during the sessions for Nicks’ solo smash ‘Stand Back,’ which features uncredited synth work by Prince, which was inspired by his hit ‘Little Red Corvette.’ Understandably enthused by the results, Nicks suggested they work together again, but when Prince responded by sending her a demo for what would ultimately become ‘Purple Rain,’ she froze.
“It was so overwhelming,” she later explained. “I listened to it and I just got scared. I called him back and said, ‘I can’t do it. I wish I could. It’s too much for me.’ I’m so glad that I didn’t, because he wrote it, and it became ‘Purple Rain.’”
“I’ve still got it,” Nicks recently told Mojo (via NME) when asked about the demo. “The whole instrumental track and a little bit of Prince singing, ‘Can’t get over that feeling’, or something. I told him, ‘Prince, I’ve listened to this a hundred times but I wouldn’t know where to start. It’s a movie, it’s epic.”

Youtube video of Kevin Smith talking about Prince
Kevin said that Prince's manager Stephanie told him that she knows that there are at least 50 fully produced music videos of songs that have never seen the light of day in his vault.
There is no telling what all is in there.

I knew about Sinead O Connor but had no idea he wrote songs for Stevie Nicks or The Bangals. Mentioned yesterday that he played at a club in Avondale, LA back in 79 called Old Man Rivers. Paid him $500. That was before he hit it big obviously. I was 5 at the time so I wasn't there, but apparently The Police played there and other major artists too. Blew my mind.

It really shouldn't be a surprise but apparently most of these idiots have their heads in the sand

Percocet is a helluva drug
Posted on 4/22/16 at 3:20 pm to Cs
evidently he had been resisting surgery on his hip for years due to his religious opposition to blood transfusions (jehovahs witness). i read somewhere that he eventually did get an operation though
easy to get hooked on percocet if he was in that kind of pain.
a cousin of mine eventually took his own life due to a fricked up back surgery and constant pain/addition to painkillers

But his plane landing for three hours because of and overdose is stupid. He would have had to stay there longer than three hours
Not really. All they'd have to do is give him a shot of Narcan, and he'd be pretty much good to go. EMTs sometimes carry it, especially in areas that have cases of high opiate overdoses.

Booz told me how he had this massive house ... blue fountain waves kind of came down, streaming water that led to the front door and all this great stuff. And I remember him calling me, "Dude, you will never guess, I rode past my house like three times, I had no idea it was my house."
Supposedly, Prince changed the front gate to the Prince sign, he changed the master bedroom to a hair salon, he changed the streaming blue waters that led to the front door to purple water, he knocked out walls, he changed the molding on top of the ceiling. Booz was livid. So pissed off, so angry ... [Prince] put his Purple Rain stamp on it ... Booz was like, "I was getting ready to go over there and beat this little man down." And dude was just like "Here, Boozer, here is a little check for about a million, it'll take care of everything, get it back the way you want it." And Booz was like, "This little man is cool as hell."
Boozer told Friedell that Prince knew "how to live":
Good dude, good tenant. [He] took care of the house his way. And then fixed it back the way I needed it to be. Very good dude. ... He knows how to live. He lives a good life. I'll put it that way. ... He put it back the way it was before he moved out. He did some very specific things that were built for him and his lifestyle, which is very different from mine. Needless to say, I sold the house, made a great profit, and moved to Miami.

Not sure if it's been posted but here is Corey Taylor of Slipknot singing Purple Rain and Red Corvette yesterday at the First Avenue Club. First Avenue was the club featured in Purple Rain

If there is any silver lining to this...a ton of very talented people will be doing their best to pay tribute to a genius. Sad, but if more good music emerges from this hole....

I gotta be honest, these marketing firms are such whores.
It's one thing to do it a week or so down the road. Pulling the trigger on a "tribute" ad that still gets your company/product out there barely a day within his death is pathetic.
