That's awesome. I'm assuming he wasn't doing too well when you saw him then? Just for the sake of your family, might want to reconsider and try to make it home. Your family might need you in more ways than one.

hospice is there and he is at peace.

Went through that earlier this year. It's not easy but you have to stay strong for him and the rest of your family.

Prayers for you and your dad

Sorry man. The cancer took my mom in March.

My dad also died at 62. Must be the age.

Waaaaay too young. Condolences for the OP. As a Christian, I believe there's much for us to look forward to and I pray that comfort in that knowledge will find its way to you in the darkness of the days soon to come.

Always sad to lose a parent
Why aren't you with your dad?
Off shore companies don't allow time off for such a situation ?

I pray that your father is comfortable, free from pain, and for his peace, as well as peace for you and your family.

in my case, no. I'd have to ask my relief to come take my place. I'd rather let him enjoy his time with his family. I'm ok. it just sucks that I don't know when that phone call will come.

Many of us have unfortunately had a similar experience. It's going to be a tough time for you, but you can get through it. Your dad will be in a better place, the last rites just makes sure of it. Keep your mind and heart open to God

You still wouldn't know even if you were home. The last week with my dad was the worst waiting game ever. I would do like you and stay busy to keep my mind occupied. No one can tell you how to handle it. Everyone is different.

My dad did the same thing last winter. Hospice care was amazing and really helped with the whole process. My dad too was at peace and was ready to go. T's and P's with you and your family.

Hate to hear man. My grandmother received last rites more than once so hopefully he can hold in for quite a while yet! Peace to you and your family.

Yes, I share your thoughts and pain. And as a word of advice, all your wonderful memories, with the way he has impacted your life, and taught you so much, take some time, in a quiet place and write all of those thoughts and feelings down on paper. You can do it over multiple nights. It will help you cope with the sadnes and grief and will allow you to vent in a positive fashion.
I did this, and when the time came to lay my father to rest I got up and shared all of my thoughts and feelings about the most amazing man in my life with everyone at his funeral. And many people were truly Moved by my thoughts and feelings I shared. I didn't think I would have the strength to, but I did and it felt so good to honor him.
I left the letter/notes in his casket. And man I miss that man more everyday. Please be strong and I will pray for you my friend

Prayers for you and your family. What made your dad great for you will always be there, and you can always turn to those memories and his example when you need that strength. All the best over the coming days.
