thanks for all the support. I was able to facetime him yesterday and he gave me a subtle "I love you". however, the fact that he cried a year ago saying "I'm not ready to die, son". that will haunt me forever.

Prayers to you and your family

It's going to hurt and things may not be ok for a while and that's ok too. Everyone goes through grief differently.

As much as it hurt see my father die, it was also a privilege helping him in his last few weeks. When my mom had to tell him that his cancer became terminal and the dr could no longer do anything except home health to help him feel more comfortable, I believe he knew it was his time to go.

My brother came down for a few days and about 1-2 days after he left, dad passed away.
