It’s non stop from every direction.

Just got an email from Ring their per camera price is increasing from $40 per year to $50 per year. In July of ‘22 they raised the price from $30 to $40.

That’s a 67% pricing increase in less than a 2-year period.

Thankfully I only have one camera but frick these companies. I get it, it is less than a dollar per month but that isn’t the point. There are a lot of people using inflation as an excuse to rapidly increase margins.

The only motion my ring camera is going to detect is me leaving their service.

yep, inflation is a mf'er. things went off the rails in '22 and '23. it's why the fed is trying to crush it back down to 2% annually.

Any day now we will be getting work emails about our salaries increasing due to "cost of living."

unfortunately this is really the only way to potentially bring about change.

Companies are gonna found out soon what products people think are essential.

Like you said, it's across the board and far outpacing wages.

Or maybe they won't and people will just continue to be in deep debt. I dont fricking know at this piont. Economics don't make sense right now.

This was always the problem with "on demand" cameras.

I have Blink Cams... still have to pay for the on demand features and cloud backup....

wish I would have just had a company come do some hard wired cams to a local storage

As a small business owner we have really really tried to not raise prices, we have some really good customers that have not had a price increase in 5 years. We had to pass on some increases last week. Most were like "damn, yall put it off as long as you could, no problem" Others were acting as if we were screwing em over.

I pay $0 for a ring camera on every door. I just pretend they are there. For the good they do $0 is over priced. Where do y'all live where you need video surveillance and why don't you move?

What kind of business are you in? That's also relevant I think.

We make more money as a household than we ever have, but it feels like we have less money than ever as well. Went to Walmart last night and walked out with 3 small bags of stuff. $180. FML.

just want to say kudos to you man. not being sarcastic. it's gotta be tempting to take advantage of the current economy and creep prices up (sometimes necessarily, often more than is necessary).

Folks are still spending money left and right. We toured the East Cost in June, every restaurant full, every train ride full, every plane full, every attraction full.

Even in broke _ss MS, there are lines in just about restaurant and new ones opening every day.

As long as folks keep spending money like a sailor on shore leave, prices will keep increasing.

There is a massive difference between a small business (especially a brick and mortar) doing what you did and a SaaS company raising pricing 70% in 18 months.

I would hope most people understand it, but also some people are probably feeling these increases more than others.

Politicians have always been known to be dishonest, but I have never, and I mean NEVER, seen someone lie like the current WH press secretary.
