My criteria are in order:
1. Warm weather year round or close to it. No real winters. Gulf coast winters are fine, not long or severe.

2. Scenic. Lots of natural beauty where people spend a lot of time outdoors.

3. Entertainment options. Enough so I don't get bored.
Brosef, it's time to get yo-sef a New Iberia haircut, baw.

Big city or country, nothing in between.
Small towns, mid sized cities, and suburbs aren't for me.

I enjoy living in Birmingham. Live downtown and can get to many bars, restaurants, parks, etc. on foot. I guess it is considered a medium sized city. It definitely has a long way to go. Wouldn't want to live too far outside of it because I hate commuting. I enjoy getting out of the city but that's what farms and lake houses are for.

I was born, raised, and went to college in Madison, Wisconsin, which is a medium-sized city of about 245,000 when school is not in session. When it is in session, that number spikes to 285,000. Love it there, and I could see myself settling down with a family there. Situated between two lakes, home to a great university, beautiful downtown area, and the job prospects in my field are there.
I currently live in Chicago, which, obviously, is one of the biggest cities in the country. I'm currently 25 and I love it here... for now. For one, it is just 145 miles south of Madison. It is easy to go back and visit family, my alma mater, go to football/basketball games, etc. Second, Chicago is home to Wisconsin's largest alumni base, so I have many college friends in the city. Third, the city has been perfect for someone my age. There's a lot to do, a lot of different bars, a lot of people my age, great recreation, etc.
Growing up and being in college, I preferred a medium-sized city like Madison, As a 20-something, I prefer being in a large city like Chicago.

You sound like me about 9 years ago. I moved to Chicago when I was 25 (35 now) and loved everything about it. I will promise you that there will come a time when you get tired of dealing with a big city. You will get tired of going into bars packed full of amateur drunks. You will get tired of paying as arse load for rent because you can't live in a frat house forever. You will meet someone and then eventually start a family (all which I have done).
I live near the United center now and love how "quiet" it is. I have a local bar that is never crowded with amateurs. But I am about 1 year from moving back down south where u can have a nice house with a ton of room for 1/2 what I'm paying in rent.
Enjoy your 20s here. I wish I could go back 10 years and re-live 1 summer.

For a lot of people this changes. Later in life you'll not need thousands of choices for bars and restaurants. The places you liked will be taken over by a new batch of bright eyed 20 somethings.
Many folks when they get established want to find a quieter place to settle down with more familiar faces.

The only reason I don't want to live in Chiraq is the winter. Way too cold for me

I was born in a small town. My parents live in the same small town. My job is in a small town. All my friends are in a small town. I can be myself in a small town. People let me be just what I want to be.

This is definitely one of the reasons why IL has 51% of its residents wanting to move away.

What classifies as medium? Big?
I'm young and single so I prefer cities. You never know who you'll meet, people from all over the world any given day.
I grew up in a small town and couldn't see myself living in a place like that...just too boring for my tastes.

Growing up I lived in both a huge city(Houston) and a small town (pop 2500) the city had more conveniences and more to do but the laid back small town was much better. I prefer to be way out in the middle of nowhere but it does get trying at times ie:forgetting tyou are out of something needed and having to drive all the way back into civilization to get it

I wanna live in a big city with an MLB team for a little while. Till around 35 then move out to suburbs or small town.
Somewhere I can hunt all the time.

It is insane how much I loved being in a bar 5 years ago. Very meh about it now.
I like where I live now. Big city, but live in the burbs. But can also take my dog on walks jn the woods where I can't see houses and there are deer tracks everywhere. Reminds me of being on the deer lease in east Feliciana parish. Sucks that i don't have the same access to hunting and fishing I did. But I'm sure I can find that within an hour of me. Just have to find and be willing to pay for it on my own instead of using family's.

Rural with few people; people are usually dumb, I don't like traffic, land is cheaper, I need open spaces with outdoor activities, I don't like the bar scene anymore, and if a crisis erupts I'd rather be away from the masses.

City because of the Fear song and lyrics.

I love living in the city
I love living in the city
My house smells just like a zoo
It's chock full of shite and puke
Cockroaches on the walls
Crabs crawlin' on my balls
Oh, well I'm so clean cut
I just wanna frick some slut
I love living in the city
I love living in the city
Spent my whole life in the city
Where junk is king and the air smells shitty
People puking everywhere
Piles of blood, scabs and hair
Bodies wasted in the street
People dying on the streets
But the suburban scumbags they don't care
They just get fat and dye their hair

Born in a mid-size city. Moved to a small city. Now live in a tiny city.
Hate the issues that come with large cities and can't stand the gossip and inability to be anonymous of small cities.
I prefer small or mid-size cities with big cities and rural areas nearby. College towns make great places to live.
