Prefer living in a small/mid/large city or town? Why?

I live in a mid-sized city now and I prefer it. No traffic, no violence, laid back. I grew up in Atlanta during the Braves heyday years of 90-00 and that was pretty fun but there are a lot of things i don't miss about it, a lot. Just wondering how others felt, especially interested in hearing what its like living in a super small town

Rural. If I can see my neighbors, they're too close.

I was born in a small town, I'll probably die in the same small town.

Love my small city but it may be outgrowing me. I'm looking at a smaller town called Haines, Ak to spend the rest of my days. About 3,000 ppl in Haines.
I like to know people, I've seen the exciting, done the big city and have become comfortable with who I am and what brings me peace. Haines is that place where it all comes together for me.

Live in the big city and have a place to get away to in the middle of nowhere.

I can take a good urban city. I can't stand sprawl or suburbs. Give me a compact urban city with great walk and bike-ability or a rural area. Nothing in between.
A smaller city with big city nightlife and food is my perfect compromise. That's why I really love New Orleans. I can go places and consistently run into people I know, but I have great bars and restaurants and can easily get to tons of stuff within walking distance.

I love big cities (if you consider NO big). I grew up in "the country", super rural area where my nearest neighbors were 1+ miles away, and the nearest store/restaurant was ~20 miles away. I don't see myself ever living in an area away from a large city again. I'm not a "country" person, so not much draws me to rural areas.
In the city I can walk to pretty much any amenity that I want (this is a big deal to me). Living in a city promotes spontaneity, if I want to go to a bar I can walk a quarter mile and be at a number of bars, if I need to go to the grocery store I can walk, same with parks, etc... Also, I enjoy watching live sporting events, if I wake up Sunday morning and want to go to a Saints game I can drive 5 minutes away and pick up tickets. During the NBA season, if I don't have plans I just buy Pels tickets. I haven't even mentioned live music yet. To me, cities=things to do.

Give me a city the size of Baton Rouge WITHOUT the angry assholes that drive around here, especially the rednecks in pickup trucks.

Nice to meet you, Kenny Chesney.
eta: Has a song with a similar theme to the Mellencamp song.

My criteria are in order:
1. Warm weather year round or close to it. No real winters. Gulf coast winters are fine, not long or severe.
2. Scenic. Lots of natural beauty where people spend a lot of time outdoors.
3. Entertainment options. Enough so I don't get bored.
Boca Raton and Sunny Isles have been the favorite places I've lived. Then Orange Beach.
