Kantz, my daughter was born 5 weeks early, and I freaked out. I cannot imagine what you and your family are going through. I haven't posted on this thread, yet however I have been following your story and praying. My wife even texted me today to ask about "that baby and mom that I've been reading about." Know that we are all praying for your brother. God Bless.

I went through this last December. My wife went in the hospital with preeclampsia at 28 weeks and they were able to keep things stable until 30 weeks. Daughter was born at 3 lbs and stayed in the NICU for 6 weeks. Now she's 10 months old, 16 lbs, starting to crawl, and causing hell.
It's amazing what they can do medically these days. I'm glad to hear that your wife and daughter are doing (relatively) well.

My son born at 27 weeks at 2 lbs 8 oz. When he was born, the nurse said "that's a good weight". I was surprised by that, but after 8 weeks of mostly monitoring he came home. He's now 9. You're in our prayers, and believe the nicu works miracles!

I'm so glad. I will continue to pray!

Many congratulations on the birth of your baby and prayers for your baby girl, you and the hubs! It's sure is a tough road to travel, but you'll be fine! I don't know any of the details of the birth which caused you to find your way to the NICU, but I know you're in good hands there.
Since I'm not a parent or an grandparent, I can only see our little tyke through a window sometimes, but we live for the pics and video and facetiming from the NICU, so be sure and share a lot with the relatives who are itching to see your baby. I cry everytime I get a text! Happy tears!

I haven't posted yet (usually don't on the OT), but I've been reading the thread. Great news, man. Truly happy for you. You will remain in our thoughts.
As a father of 2, I think you're going through one of the hardest things you can with your kids and you seem to be handling it well. Hang in there, everything will be fine.

Prayers sent. Heart is heavy for you.

Have you visited the NICU yet? Sorry if posted already but there are quite a few pages. We previewed the NICU before our twins came. It helped knowing what we were going to see for awhile.
They were diagnosed with TTTS and SIUGR. One twin came out 2 lb 5 oz and the other 5 lb 4 oz. The smaller one wasn't supposed to make it with SIUGR and TTTS. By miracle they made it all the way to week 35 with the help of surgeons in Houston. At one point before the surgery, they told us that we had to choose to keep both and the larger one had a 90% chance of death if the smaller one died (99% chance)or abort the smaller one and seal off the sac and the larger one will survive and become a singleton pregnancy. We waited until the next week to decide when we went to Houston to ultimately try to save one baby. By miracle, when they did the surgery they discovered a way to save both babies. *Makes me emotional right now* They had saved both babies! Both were in the NICU at first with the larger one going home after 17 days. The smaller one was in there for almost 2 months. They are both happy, healthy and about 4 months old. The smaller one is catching up to big brother now. Doctors are amazing on what they can do now.

Not sure if you're still upset about down votes but keep in mind a lot of people are looking at this on their phones and have fat fingers so it's not hard to accidentally hit the down vote button a few times out of a few hundred screen taps.
This and some people downvote not to be mean, but because this is truly a very sad story

Oh wow!! What a gut wrenching story and I was so glad to get to the happy end of it! My eyes are plenty wet from that one. Congratulations and my goodness, I can't even imagine what that must have been like.

True...but I think it's probably one asshat downvoting considering literally every post has a down vote.
I guarantee who ever it is does not have kids.

My little girl was in nicu for 7 days.
She was my first so I really didn't understand.
The next one came along and only thing I cared about was the baby's health.
He came out fine.
Hang in there bros. babies are tough and doctors and nurses are smart.

Hang in there young man and support your wife. Maybe rub her back a little tonight. Something about that helps them relax.
Still praying for y'all.

Kantz-I know how hard it is to keep everyone updated but laying in NICU with my daughter on my chest I am thinking of Molly---when you get a chance let us know if she is still in the oven ;)
You and the wife hang in there!

sorry if this is inappropriate in any way, but this is a happy story !!!
My wife would never brag, but I will. This is for all the preemie baby's and parent's out there.
My lovely wife was born 3-7-1960, 3 months premature with a large hole in the heart pumping blood straight into her lungs. She weighed all of 2lbs 1oz at birth and slept in a shoe box, she was so small. She had open heart surgery at 5 months old. Let that sink in, 1960, 5 months old, open heart surgery. All the Drs. believed she was the youngest person at the time for this type of surgery. Today, she is the mother of 3 great children and now a grandmother. We pray for all here, hope this was an encouragement in some way !!!
Godspeed .....
