Yeah I always get a good laugh at the people who probably have never even left the south who are just stunned that people would even think about going to a place like Dubai because they think the entire middle east is like going to Afghanistan
Eh. I'm not trying to be included in this but we have kids their ages and have Israel on the short list of places to travel for the last few years. And for obvious reasons, we've chosen elsewhere.

Yeah but in their defense, they probably won't be bringing home a disease that will spread and lock down the entire country. And make some people wear those ridiculous masks.
Thanks again Honkus.

Dubai is too fricking hot. It’s a big nice city I suppose but I really don’t get the appeal. It’s not like it has a ton of history or famous architecture. I guess it’s cool to say you’ve been to the top of the world’s tallest building but it’s like $125 just to ride the elevator up and get a cup of tea. And 90% of the time view sucks because the air full of dust and sand from the big arse desert.
To each their own tho.

This is just a humble brag. "Hey look! We can afford to vacation in Dubai!"
Terrible take .
But ill give you credit at least for using ‘humble brag’ instead of the low iq ‘subtle brag’.. but technically, you should say ‘humblebrag’ as one word .

I am not sure why they are speaking to the press because they aren't trapped. You can fly into Dubai today from New Orleans so the airport is operating.
I am with the people who are thinking this is leading to a GoFundMe so they can fly home on a private jet or some such. Their biggest complaint in the article is cancelled flights. I get stuck at ATL due to cancellations all the time. Get on Stand By and get on a plane. I would be curious if they are declining Economy seats to hold out for Delta One or something.

Why would you leave the greatest country in the world and go to a shithole region of the world?
Because the city is much nicer than any in the US. That is the playground of the world’s wealthy.

The state department told everyone to GTFO a few days before this all started. They should've left.

People still travel even with kids. it isn't that difficult from taking care of them normally.

If I was going to be stuck somewhere in the Middle East, I’d pick Dubai.

No doubt. Saw them last names and instantly thought transplants. Baw is probably an engineer from some Northern Hell hole.

All the beautiful places to vacation in the us and the rest of the world and they choose the Middle East during a military buildup against Iran. No sympathy for stupidity.
Dubai beaches and resorts are nice and very family friendly.
Ferrari World and WB World in Abu Dhabi, Atlantis in Dubai…some of the biggest and best amusement and water parks in the world.

Not saying I would but a lot of families closer in distance like in Europe do go to Dubai. Its one of those places that has something for everyone.
Back during the GWOT timeframes, a lot of American civilians that were contractors that were working shifts would just stay there when they didn't feel like coming back stateside.

If people paid attention they would’ve seen this coming. Trump has been warning about it.
100% this. When you have a buildup in that region that was pretty much comparable to the last few times we went to war over there, it was pretty obvious.

Would anyone here take their young family to the Middle East on vacation?

This isn't exactly a delay due to a thunderstorm; the airspace has been closed for almost a week. I think it just reopened. No one is decinling a seat ouf of Dubai at the moment becasue there are barely any.
The people who really got screwed were the ones who were transiting through and had a 2 hour layover turn into a week.
Posted on 3/6/26 at 10:56 am to BigBinBR
We did our honeymoon in the Maldives and flew Emirites. At the time, Emirites offered great special for a layover trip to Dubai, which we did. We spent three nights there. It was amazing. However, like others said. I wouldn’t bring kids.
