I’d like to know the thought process behind travelling to an already unstable region on a long arse flight with 2 young kids and a pregnant wife.

because they had accumulated airline miles,
it would also be much harder with three little ones when we're outnumbered
Not saying I would do it, but that was the thought process.

Why would you leave the greatest country in the world and go to a shithole region of the world?
You clearly have no idea what it is like in Dubai….

How are they stuck there? The airport is open. All they have to do is book a flight.

They probably want you to donate to a gofundme to pay for their vacation

I lived in Dubai during the Iranian Revolution in '79.
I was very young so most of what I know about that time is what my mom told me.
We lived in Dubai because of my dad's work.
When the revolution happened, it was strongly suggested that families of employees go back to America as there was some serious concern that Iran would invade.
The prospect of moving back to America and having to live with my grandparents was not something my mom wanted to do, so she decided to stay.
My dad's company set up a number of evacuation plans in case there was an invasion.
There were planes at the airport fueled up and on standby. Get to the airport in time, and they'd fly you out of the country.
If you couldn't make it to the airport, they had some boats at a port gassed up and ready to go. Get to the port, get on a boat, and they'd ferry you to a rig and try to get you out the country that way.
If you couldn't make it to the port, they had some helicopters ready to ferry people to oil rigs.
And if all of that failed, there was a caravan plan that involved vehicles, then trekking across the desert with pack animals to get out of the country.

Exactly. Why travel to some liberal shithole like Dubai? Just go to the Prairieville Tractor Supply, get some Propane and make sure the kids are at Bible Study on Sunday

You're telling me they couldn't find a way to fly out of Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

Abu Dhabi is where it's lit and only about an hour drive from Dubai

Not saying I would but a lot of families closer in distance like in Europe do go to Dubai. Its one of those places that has something for everyone.
I stopped there on the way to South Africa. It’s insanely nice.
If people paid attention they would’ve seen this coming. Trump has been warning about it. Everyone is just to caught up in Epstein files and Savannah Guthries mom disappearing.

What city in this world isn’t man made?
Figured this was obvious but most tourist cities are centered around some sort of outdoor activity or specific entertainment.
Miami - beaches
Aspen - skiing/mountains
NYC - food & theatre
Paris - arts & history

Y'all are tripping. Dubai is super nice and westernized city. Definitely not a shite hole.
Having said that, I am not sure why they are speaking to the press because they aren't trapped. You can fly into Dubai today from New Orleans so the airport is operating.

I guess a trip to Orange Beach with beach traffic, crowded arse beach and a 1 hr stop at Buccees, seems like the better option in hindsight.
