550 mill is a crap load, but after cash value and taxes, you’ll end up with like 170 million, so really nothing too crazy. Upkeep on houses, especially abroad, is crazy. Depending on your age, you could have 2-3, million dollar houses. Then you have to factor in travel back and forth, staff to man the houses..you could probably live 15-20 years like that before you start running into cash flow problems.

Yeah, you're right. I've changed my mind, probably just get a little ranch house in Metairie, make sure I don't blow through the 200 FREAKING MILLION DOLLARS because of "upkeep".

You could do this and never even touch your principle investment.

If I had that kind of "frick you" money I'd live somewhere in California for the Mediterranean climate alone.

Probably near San Diego or Bradbury perched up on a hill or maybe in a canyon but I'd have a big spread with a pool house, an 8-car garage, and a big arse shop.

I'd stay in South LA, I like the weather and love my family. Have a fishing camp in Dularge and a beach house somewheres in the Carribean. Hunting lodge in the Hill Country, TX
