Just yesterday, I was surfing through multiple cable news channels, and within an hour, I heard these unfamiliar (to me) alternate pronunciations:
Contribute heard as "CON-tribute" (I say cuhn-tribute.)
Applicable as APP-lick-able (I say uh-plik-uh-bull)
Comparable as Come-pair-uh-bull (I say comp-ruh-bull)
I get many words have multiple ways of pronouncing them, especially in different regions, but just like Les Miles used to pronounce Arkansas as "Ar-Kansas", some alternative pronunciations seem to be in the extreme minority and sound simply foreign... to me.
Am I actually the doofus in the minority? Or do those sound off to you, too?

Had a History teacher, highly educated man, pronounced documents incorrectly.
We say dock-YOU-ments
He said dock-UH-ments
The man had a master's degree and never did correctly pronounce documents.

My GF is spanish and says al-lew-minnie-um for aluminum.
But I can get why a person from a different country might say it differently. The ones listed in my OP were said by Americans.

I used to work for a Canadian company and they would say this pronunciation all the time. Drove me crazy.

I wouldn't think this one is completely foreign to most people, and I have doubts it's even in the minority in terms of use.

I know someone who has a PhD and says pacifically instead of specifically.
