Post-St. George annexations head to Metro Council

So BR is able to continue picking the proposed city apart while St George sits there in limbo.

Eight companies are included in the first round of annexation requests—all of which are located along United Plaza Boulevard—and will go before the council Wednesday.
The request from III United Plaza, located at 8555 United Plaza Blvd., was the first to come in after October’s vote to incorporate the proposed city of St. George.
III United Plaza’s neighbor, Turner Industries, is also seeking annexation. Turner Industries was the sixth property owner along United Plaza Boulevard to request annexation in early December.

Per Broome state of the union N Baton Rouge making a comeback
Broome also alluded to a “major announcement” that will be coming soon about the redevelopment of a vacant storefront at the intersection of Florida Boulevard and N. Acadian Thruway across from Baton Rouge General.
Broome touted the project as a win for her administration and a boon for the blighted Florida Boulevard corridor.
Though the mayor declined to provide details, Daily Report has confirmed the project will be a car wash and detailing business owned by Melvin Hardnett, who also owns and operates a small chauffeur business.
Broome also alluded to a “major announcement” that will be coming soon about the redevelopment of a vacant storefront at the intersection of Florida Boulevard and N. Acadian Thruway across from Baton Rouge General.

If the courts deem St George was a City as of November 2019 would this make this vote null & void?
Would the businesses have to wait until the City of St George is setup to leave it and then ask to be apart of BR?
If this is the case when St George is setup couldn’t people just ask to be in St George if they are in The City of BR?
If the parish allowed people inside a city of leave could it go both ways?
To me it raises a lot of legal questions.

The businesses currently wishing to annex into BTR do not generate any sales tax. Their departure does not negatively impact the City of St. George. Let'em go, and watch them now more in taxes for their childish decision.

Well that's great. But when do we become a fricking city so we can stop all this bullshite? I was told there's going to be a lawsuit, right? So can we fast track it so we can get to the business of running our new city, as voted on fairly by the people who will live in it?

In fact, St. George needs to file public records for documents pertaining to all of these companies and properties. Could make the annexations illegal if the city sought them.

I feel ya, but it's got to go through the courts. Hopefully with the first hearing in February we can get the vote declared as being certified, and at least this annexation crap will stop.

I turned the Metro Council meeting on to see the St. George discussion.
While that part is over, Chauna Banks is now discussing the Tire Shredder program.
My goodness. And she is employed by the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

I don't get why they want until after vote. Was status quo better for them?
I understand that some have ties to metro govt and probably a lot of Louisiana back scratching going on, but that would have existed before. Landry handled the city's annexation of mall of Louisiana and Siegan lane last time. Why wait til vote and then say you want certainty of being within city of Baton Rouge? It seems like while working for city he would have worked to get his business done at same time. It would have been a lot easier than the way city maneuvered around residential areas to get mall and Siegan retail area while walling off some properties that were not included.
