My parents have some good stories about Apartheid South Africa. In general, blacks and whites got along a lot better than portrayed.

I picked up a black hooker about 16 years ago. 9 months later, she tracked me down and tried to say her white baby boy was mine. Luckily, I had a vasectomy already. Thank you Jesus! I can't even imagine a son with my last name, posting on TD, going with the handle baybeefeetz!

We never had a black kid the entire 11 years I went to CP.
I transferred to public school in 11th grade when there was still forced bussing and bam, 6 weeks later the OJ trial verdict. We had black kids dancing on the tables in the cafeteria

My wife is a real estate agent for Gary Greene. She had a couple about 6 months ago trying to rent a home. Black guy and White Girl both about 31-32. Black guy is a mechanical engineer and works in his father in laws engineering company.
They put full price rental offers in on about 6 rentals in the $1900 to $2200 range over a 2 week period and all of them got rented to someone else. The offers require credit check, copy of DL, etc... Wife told me that she thought it might be because the guys TX DL photo was pretty dark. She used Adobe to lighten the photo to his more natural appearance and voila... next home they put an offer in they got.
Wife said she never had that many homes magically rent like that. They put in several of the offers on Tuesday and Wednesday because his wife was a nurse and they tended to look at rentals on those days. Tuesdays and Wednesdays aren't hot days for rental offers usually. Was it race? Sure was a coincidence if not.

There are bad apples in every state. Just how it is even though the idea of racism honestly doesn’t make very much sense in my opinion. Still, there are many here who only care about blacks when they are on the gridiron.

I was having a birthday party at my grandparents when I was 5 or 6. I got to invite the friends and classmates of my choosing. This happened to include a few black kids. My grandparents threw a fit, but my mom (not their child btw) absolutely tore their arse apart and told them that there was no way they would stop a child from coming over just because he was black.

I don’t know what other people thought, but the racists I was around thought black people tended to be dumber. Maybe more violent also. But they didn’t really care, as far as daily life, if that makes sense. When it came to politics I believe it was a factor.
