I was working in L.A. for about a week in 1990. A co-worker was going to a little bar after work to see his buddy from high school in a band. He asked if I wanted to go so I did.
We got to the bar and sat at some long picnic style tables with long benches. (about 30') You didn't really have your own table, people just kind of sat wherever was open.
The waitress brought us some beers and we were waiting for the band to crank up. Ed O'Neill walks up and asks if we mind if he sits down. At the time, Married with Children is about the most popular show in the country and here was the star.
We ended up trading who was buying rounds and talked a bit, trying not to be Gomers and get too star-struck. He was a really cool guy. The band played a kind of jazzy rock and he liked them so he showed up when they were playing somewhere. He was also a football fan.
I didn't know that he was signed at one time to play for Pittsburgh.
I know, TLDR.

In the late 90's I was living in Tallahassee. Mark, a friend of mine, and I were playing golf at the FSU course. It was just us two so we got paired up with another twosome. The other twosome were Scott, a youngish (mid-20's) guy with earrings in both ears and a little bit older guy that was more straight-laced business casual looking.
Somewhere around the 3rd green, Mark strikes up a conversation with Scott. He mentions Scott's cap, which bears the logo of a cymbal manufacturer - Zildjian. He asks if Scott is a drummer and Scott says, "yeah". Mark starts talking about how he was a drummer in a garage band years ago, blahbiddy blah. Scott says "That's cool". Mark asks him what's the name of his band. Scott replies, "Creed".

I was doing Northwestern State football games on the campus radio station, and saw Bobby Hebert in the coaches booth next to us. I went over and asked if he would sit in with us for a few minutes, and he said he would aft6er talking to the coaches.
Eventually, he came over to our booth and stayed for about a quarter. This was the fall after he won the USFL title with the Michigan Panthers.

We found a dildo on the disc golf course yesterday during league doubles, forcing me to wonder what scenario led to there being a dildo in the middle of the fairway, far from any roads or houses.

Over the weekend I won an all expense paid trip to NYC for the MTV Music Awards.

The corporate housing my company put us up at in Clearwater was up the street from Phillies spring training and several of the players and coaches were staying there with their families as well. Since it was on Tamp Bay I would go out fishing in the evening after work and had several of the players and coaches come up asking for fishing tips at different times. So I ended up teaching several of the Phillies players and coaches how to fish.

I was at the Breakers (hotel) in West Palm Beach. I was back in where they hold conferences and no one was around. One of the rooms had a grand piano, so I went in and was playing on it. An older man came in, smiled, and said "I'm just listening." After playing for a few minutes, I asked if he played and he said "yes" so I asked him to play. He was really good. I said "wow, that was incredible" then introduced myself. He introduced himself - Keith Jarrett, jazz pianist.
He seemed pleasantly surprised that I knew who he was and that I own some of his live recordings.

Before I moved, I was cop in BR. Last season when LSU played A&M certain players came back to BR to visit.
Got a call about 0300 the next morning about a loud noise complainant of block party. Get there and its pretty low key, about 20 girls outside by there cars. Next thing you know OBJ walks up to me and says, man I am glad you are here. When been trying to get these girls to leave for forever. They were trying to go to Lauberge. Then Brad Wing and Matty Ice walk up as well. There were a couple of big guys who clearly played football but couldnt tell who they were. Anyways got to talk with them for about 20 minutes. Guys were all real cool. OBJ was still in his walking boot at time.

In San Jose for training at IBM about 13 yrs ago.
Walked down to the hotel bar one evening. I'm sitting there watching NBA finals when a guy comes sit next to me. He orders something that costed like $40 for a double. I was like WTF but no big deal.
I then notice people are staring through the window from the street and taking pictures. It turnt out I was sitting there shooting the shite about the Finals with D-Roc of the Ying Yang Twins.
I said "they all out there for you?" and he grinned "I guess so."
Then I realize the entire hotel was full of hippity hop artists there for a big concert the next night. I walked into the lobby to see some peeps named Pretty Ricky, Baby Bash, and Frankie J checking in(I had NO frickING Idea who these people were but at least 20-30 crazed young fans were sure excited to see them).
Oh Snoop was there too but went up some service elevator to his entire floor.

Somewhat LSU-Themed. On a game day around 20 years back, I was walking into The Chimes with some friends. As I opened the door, a big guy was on his way out with some friends dressed in LSU garb looking like he was heading to mardi gras. We damn near ran right into one another.
I briefly tapped his shoulder and told him sorry I'd bumped into him- just being nice. He said 'Aww man- think nothing of it- my fault for not paying attention!', and laughed. Then it dawned on me that I was talking to John Goodman.
