when i lived in houston back in the early 1990s we would go to second baptist church sometimes after work and shoot hoops in the gym.

for some reason many of the rockets players also would play there (the gym had 2 full courts side-by-side) including clyde drexler who was with portland at the time i believe and Olajuwon even showed up a couple of times.

anyway one day we talked clyde drexler into playing 5 on 1 make-it-take-it with us and none of us came remotely close to scoring.

we knew it was going to be ugly but damn.

I was living in North Houston in the early 90's and I wish I would have known about all this

The playoff runs of '94 and '95 are still some of the most fun I've ever had as a fan of a team

i used to volunteer at a shelter in houston in the 90s. it was an old community center with a basketball court that we sometimes used for overflow cots.

we had a local high school legend that fell on hard times as a regular. some white guys thought he was clyde drexler and challenged him to a game and lost. we never had the heart to tell them ronnie was just a regular crackhead

jogging a trail near the Makapu'u lighthouse in Oahu and I took a few minutes to cool off and I look up and I see Ben Affleck and his mom walking it too... I get a quick picture with him and tell him to have a nice day. funny we were surrounded by people and I was the only one who recognized him

A few years ago I was in the Walgreens at Lee/Highland. A couple in front of me (frat-star and girl in Nike shorts and oversize frat t-shirt) asked for Plan B and the pharmacist informed them they were out of stock.

When I got to the counter I joked with the pharmacist, "I guess that's a big seller huh?" and he replied, "Oh yeah. Especially during football season!"

Did Affleck's Mom take the pic?

I talked to briefly and took a pic with Jason Segel, at Jazzfest 2010. I brought up Freaks and Geeks and asked him if he signed the yearbook special edition thing that I have. He said something like, "yeah man". The dude was totally fitshaced, but was cool about everything. I guess that is my CSB...

When I was a kid, my huge family and I were planning on going on a trip for Christmas. But the night before we were supposed to leave, a bunch of shenanigans wen't on where I ended up being blamed for it all and was ostracized to the room on the top floor...

Anyway, when I woke up from a slumber, my entire family was just gone. Turns out they forgot about me. And it was really tough as kid trying to make it on my own in the city of Chicago all by myself while two dirtbags (one of them happened to be Joe Pesci) came and tried to rob our house. I thwarted them. I thwarted the shite out of those cucks.

I'm just glad I'm alive. Especially after the second time it happened.

Needless to say, my family's pretty shitty.

At the college I went to, incoming freshman who were playing sports were able to go to a special orientation where they got help creating class schedules that fit around practices. At one point, one of the incoming baseball players gave a detailed explanation on how he was almost too stupid to get into this small Division 3 school in the middle of Wisconsin and if it wasn't for him getting accepted he would have just not went to college. That guy is Jordan Zimmerman, a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, who signed a $110 million contract in 2015

They probably all recognized him, but weren't interested in a picture or saying hello because it's just Ben Affleck.

I was a freshman at Mississippi State in 1995. My folks dropped me off when the dorms opened. There was a gym (the OLD basketball arena) behind my dorm. I had no friends at State and the gym was almost always empty, so I would shoot for a couple of hours each day.

One day, a guy walks down from the other end and asks if I want to run, because they needed a 10th. I look down to the other end and see Erick Dampier, Dontae Jones and the rest of the 1996 MSU Final Four team.

So, here I am - 5-7 white guy that never played high school basketball and can't do much else on a basketball court other than shoot threes, playing with some future pros. I guess they could tell a few minutes in that I was intimidated, because Darryl Wilson (the PG) told me I had to defend hard and I had to shoot when I was open.

I ending up shooting 2-5 from deep. Mostly, I just swung the ball around the perimeter on offense and just tried to keep up with my guy on defense. I never got anywhere near Dampier's gigantic arse.

Anyway, I didn't completely embarrass myself and felt that my contribution in this preseason unofficial practice was a pivotal moment in the Final Four run.
