Probably teach a little school if I can get certified.

Been there. Always winds up being better in the end. Best of luck and don't stress. Just reassure the kids and they'll be fine.

So this will be the new “should have learned to weld”?

Can’t wait for y’all to beat that dead horse.

Learn to code is more fun. Getting people into welding was actually serious. Learn to code comes from journalists telling people during the recession to learn to code, now that people aren’t buying their shitty magazines and newspapers, people started throwing it back in their faces when they got laid off. Only difference is they cried to Twitter and Facebook to get the phrase banned because it was harassment to tell them what they had been pushing in other’s faces.

That sucks.

We have the opposite problem with this current market. One of my direct reports quit today to move back to Germany and there is no one suitable to replace her.

The jobs are out there. You’ll find one in no time.

I figure mine will be eliminated soon.

So I got my real estate license for when it does.

The best 7 months of my adult life were when I was laid off and unemployed from Oct to May.

So where are you located and what is the position. I think it's about that time at my company as well.

Seriously, anyone hiring in Baton Rouge? Lol

Yes, I did. They had been cutting my departmental budget yearly for about 5 years.

Same here. I jumped ship before it got too bad. Really loved the job too, but the new gig is pretty sweet.

Yes - freak all the people with experience. Companies want to hire 2 people with NO experience for the same dollars thinking that "new" ideas push the company into the next level.

I’ve got some good friends who have been in this business almost as long as myself and they are struggling in the outdoor genre these days.

Well, I know a few young guys that are making nice money doing the things they love while filming it. Making a hell of a lot more than me (which doesn't say a whole lot) but I have to try and budget out of my slim income to do those outdoor things a couple times a year while they're out there pretty much more than they even want and profiting off of it.

I follow a couple guys who do bushcraft and other outdoor stuff on youtube, and based on their video hit counts, they're making some nice scratch.

They put a ton of work in to the videography/editing though.

Give me a 20% raise on my current salary, and I'll do it.

What is your area of expertise? Are you a cameraman? Sound man? Editor? Also, what city in SC? There is some movie stuff happening there. They bring in their main people, but use a lot of locals too.
