So I just drove by a Popeyes in my town that usually has literally no one in it at any point in the day and there was a line out to the street at 9pm on a random Wednesday night. Craziness

In Germany just like Belgium you will see lots of different sauces used on fries (including mayo), the Netherlands is where you will mainly see mayo but it has more of a punch than the plain US mayo. France likes mayo in a way since they most often use rémoulade.

The sandwich is good but if you think it's better than CFA you have a simple mind that's easily swayed by marketing campaigns.

Popeye's has always had better chicken than CFA. CFA is great, and the service is top notch, but Popeye's is a better food product. However, Popeye's might have the worst service in the fast food industry. That kind of service would sink any other company, but Popeye's product is so good it keeps it afloat.
It's no surprise they've made an objectively better chicken sandwich. Hell, it's to be expected, just like a 15-20 minute wait time in drive through is to be expected.

I found out about it through NBA twitter, and they can't stop talking about it. It does feel like it's a bit of a self feeding cycle, it's become trendy to talk about it so now people are using talking about the PSCS as an opportunity to get their 15 seconds of social media attention.

Literally never seen an ad. The Food and drink board brought it to my attention.
I'd say word of mouth and social media of customers had more impact

Agreed. Saw it here first.
I could tell when I pulled the sandwich out of the foil bag it was going to be better than CFA. The damn thing was massive. It was a crispy breaded chicken breast vs that soft flat breast you get at CFA. The pickles were legitimately thick cut and fresh tasting. The spicy sauce was great.
Hell, just look at the two sandwiches...
It's a very simple, yet delicious sandwich - traditional marketing or not.

Their mayo is similar to Company burger garlic mayo. So good on fries.

We were planning to have Popeyes for dinner last night but they were out of sandwiches. We got CFA instead and it's not even close. And I like CFA.
