I-10 between Orange, TX and Winnie says “Hold my beer.”
Those fricks have been milking that stretch of interstate for like 2 decades now with no end in sight.

Had he actually searched "tigerdroppings spillway railroad" he woulda found my thread with this link in the OP.
US Corp of Engineers Public Notice

quote:
ICRR proposes to replace an existing timber and concrete railroad bridge with a new concrete railroad bridge across the Bonnet Carre Spillway near the southwest shore of Lake Pontchartrain. The bridge would be approximately 11,000-feet long and would be constructed 50 feet north of the existing timber trestle bridge with tie-backs into the existing rail alignment near both the upper and lower guide levees of the spillway. The new bridge would be constructed by track-mounted equipment on the lake side of the existing bridge. Temporary roads will be constructed with timber mats to the south of the existing railroad alignment to access the equipment staging areas that will be located near the upper and lower guide levees. The existing timber bridge would be dismantled and removed following construction of the new bridge.

Don't have to look any farther than the collapsed Hard Rock here in N.O., and the drawn out clean-up that they say is going to take months to come to a conclusion. Not to mention the 2 poor bastards still buried in the rubble.
Traffic downtown is fricked for months on end and the businesses around it are not making much money because of it.

If he was smart he would apologize and ask this thread to be deleted.
I doubt it happens. If we are lucky he will double down.

My neighbor has been working on installing a new fence for at least four months now. I don't know why it takes the government so long to build one fence!

This is one of the dumbest threads ever started on the OT.
OP what do you know about building a 4mile train bridge over water?

Do you not understand why it going to take a while to clean up the site? Better to take some extra time to do it right than do it quick and have what's left standing fall on another building.

Its not worth risking the life of a someone else to attempt and recover the bodies. It sucks but its a just not worth the risk.

Norfolk Southern RR had to replace their Lake Ponchartrain Trestle a while back.
That bridge is under 6 miles long.
Do you know how long it took them?
1987-1996.
What you know about RR Bridge Construction, Replacement, & Repair can fit in Casey Jones' ear wax tool.

What the fck does that have to do with a railroad construction project that was delayed due to high water for six months?

Because the title of the thread is "Poorly run construction projects" Not railroad construction projects.
It's all in reading comprehension.

I certainly do understand WHY it's going to take that amount of time with the proximity of other buildings, streets, etc., involved. But if that building was done right in the first place, this would be a moot point.

I agree totally. Why get someone else even injured trying to recover what are basically bones and some cloth at this point in time. Bad deal all around, especially for the deceased's loved ones not getting proper closure.

9 months later the tracks were repaired and usable and a brand new all concrete replacement elevated tracks began construction. they were onsight with cranes and the full bridge tressle construction machine in place and beginning work in november of 2016. the bridge tressle construction frame looks like a damn oil rig laying on its side and it spans the pilings as they pour new ones and create the tops for them. think building the causeway but with RR tracks instead of road surface.
well here it is a full 3 years later, and they have built a grand total of ........ 1/4 mile of tressles
the spillway is 4 miles across so at this rate, on the pace they are moving, it will be another 45 years minimum to finish it
stupidity and waste in government aggravates me and this is why it bugs me but its most likely the rail road footing the bill and running the show, but damn somebody needs to get fired and get their asses in gear
im not sure why it bugs me but it does. i drive passed it often and for some reason today i just felt like ranting about it

the train bridge goes from levee to levee and the car odometer from I-10 next to it as well as the mile markers on I-10 says you are wrong
if you relied on google maps picture for bad data its ok, i wont fault you for that
but lets say for the sake of arguement im wrong and it is 2 miles, that means they will finish it in 24 years at its current pace
