KY's poorest County has over double the median household income compared to Issaqueena

In what world is 28 more than double 17?

Also Issaquena county poverty rate is 15% lower than Wolfe county Kentucky

Does the Miss Delta have a shite load of poor people? yes but they also have way more wealthy people than lots of other regions on that list

There is almost no middle class here. Very few. Basically the few people hired in management positions and maybe a few blue collar jobs like electricians and such. Most delta towns it’s either ghetto or neighborhoods full of a 4,000 sq ft+ homes. You don’t see many middle class neighborhoods and definitely no subdivisions.

I know but go ride through places around the reservations or through Appalachia or in some piney wood hill town
with a closed down paper mill. They don't have a ghetto but they just have some shanty town with none of the 4000sq ft homes and no subdivisions either

They also don't have farmers outside of town with 3000 sq ft houses and $2 million dollars worth of equipment and grain bins

And that's why in my first post I said it had the most wealth inequality in the country

2 million? That’s a poor farmer if his stuff is only worth that. Hell 2 new combines are worth 1 million alone

Funny thing is you can’t ever tell which ones have money. One may drive a 15 year old beat up truck and dress like shite and be worth 100 million. Another will have a new F250, take extravagant hunting trips, wife has new car ever year, etc and be worth nothing literally living off a farm loan every year in debt up to his eyeballs praying he never has a poor crop.

But if you talk to them all they’re all broke. Just like all the catfish farmers claim to be as they roll up to the annual convention in a Cadillac Escalade Denali. I hear crawfish farmers are similar

Do you live in Indianola or Inverness?

I’m a huge autist with google earth and will spend hours on it when I’m bored. Observing towns and clicking it to read Wikipedia and check out their demographics and population

Was looking at Inverness today and was very surprised to see it was majority white (barely), and there were some seriously nice homes on the west side of town

Mississippi Delta

I hate that place with an inordinate passion. It's ugly, nasty, and gross. We used to play some football games there in high school, and it sucks. Take the 8 Delta counties out of Mississippi, and we go from 48-50 in everything to mid-20's. Screw that place.

I live in Inverness west side of town. It’s actually more white now than the last census. I was told recently it’s up to 65%.

Whites are fleeing Belzoni and indianola and moving here, houses don’t stay available long. Inverness has no crime, and a really close community. Our rotary club and mason lodge has more members than the larger nearby delta towns and on average way younger members. Tons of young couples here, kids freely roam around on bikes and golf carts. It’s secretly referred to as a the Mayberry of the Delta and is a gem few know about. I love this town

In Helena the old money is drying up and some of the nicer neighbors are in bad shape.

Housing is cheap though.
