Keep all my thin pieces of soap to squeeze together for a usable sized piece and pour all the dribbles of shampoo into one bottle. Same with handsoap liquid.
This was my childhood. I didn't use a store bought bar of soap until I went to college.

I've done this as a "silly thing" a bunch of times. A bunch of different pieces of newspaper, magazines, envelopes, foil,Oreo packaging, etc. The ladies and kids liked it

Solo Cups / Plastic forks definitely get reused after washed. I still love Hamburger Helper, Vienna sausage, and hot fries.

I think this is more of a "something homeless people still do" as opposed to a poor people thing.....

Go buy one bean burrito to load up on taco sauce
Eta: add some water to empty shampoo and soap containers
Use dry cleaner plastic clothes protector bag as a trash bag (after tying a knot in the bottom)

Good morning, Sir!
It is with great pleasure and admiration that I, on behalf of these baws heah', bestow unto you The Home and Garden Board Bronze Medal for your service and dedication to maintenance and frugality. May we all have the same grace and mercy for which you have shown us by your example to be aptly named for such an award.
Amen
Thanks. I needed a good laugh today.

My wife still loves to hit the parades and by the end of Mardi Gras she will have a few dozen of those big plastic cups. Yeah, they wind up in our kitchen cabinet once washed.

Eat rice and tuna with soy sauce and chopsticks out of a high-sided bowl.

Been doing this for almost 20 years.
When we got married and I sold my house and moved into my wife’s house, she had this wire rack thing mounted inside her cabinet door under the sink. It’s made to hang plastic grocery bags on to use as a trash can. We fill it up about every day or other day but it’s only us two. But haven’t bought trash bags in two decades.
My mom always did this. A very practical thing to do really and you don't ever have trash sitting around for days that end up stinking.
I do it every now and then and Mrs. Iwy hates it. We have a stupid motion censored trash can that takes a certain kind of expensive bag and it drives me nuts.

Take lunch to work in Walmart sacks usually dinner leftovers from night before.
$15-$20 bucks a day for lunch is a quick way to kill your disposable income.

I have a friend of mine who recently moved to Henderson Nevada to retire. He ran high end resorts in Hawaii for years, and had two condos in Lahaina that he sold 6 months before the fire, bought property in Henderson.
He's got money, but told me he had considered going to the homeless shelter for meals twice a week to save on food and was dead serious.

I used to save the Sunday comics throughout the year to wrap the kids presents for Christmas. Since I haven't the Sunday paper any longer, I stopped.
Does the Sunday paper still have the comics?
