Good choice. I'd like to have a 86 S at some point as those are the best looking imho. There is a interesting S4 in Mandeville that is a convertible wide body conversion. It's for sale I believe. I would like to stop in and check on it but the wife unit would murder me.

Context is important when comparing how 'fast' a car is. Using a twisty track the 951 is a more able and arguably quicker car than a 930. The tail heavy 70's & 80's 930 is a terror around corners. Whereas the 944 turbo is stupid balanced and with Koni adjustables and 968 MO30 swaybars is completely planted even by modern standards. I've seen the little 4 cylinder take 930's on precision tracks. Hit a long straight though and it's a whole different ballgame. That rear engine really pushes the 930, and stops it, with a huge rush. 930 prices are insane these days and I don't see them slowing down.

The 930 was a beast of a car, and scary. I'm sure it killed a number of doctors and execs back in the day. It would tear up a Countach to 120 mph, and less than half the price.

I already have more cars than I need. But there are some decent collectibles out there in the $10K range.

240z is the only one of the 3 worth owning, the rest are trash status symbols for smug pricks to show off in but are not reliable enough to use for a DD

I'd disagree with you on the reliability of older Porsche's. Mine both sit in the garage for months without being started sometimes. They fire right up though and I wouldn't hesitate to drive them across the country.

944s are generally dead reliable if you choose well to begin with. This is one reason (along with the cost) 944/924 spec class racing is such a growing division.
You are the type of person that sees someone in a mid-90s 993 911 and thinks they just wish they had the money for a new 911. I know Porsche owners get a lot of crap and certainly, some deserve it but the majority of people that own older Porsches are true gear heads. Plus most of them are actually pretty good investments now.
If you want perfect reliability in a 10k car buy a Lexus ES330.

I couldn't do 3 cars for any where close to less than $10 grand each. With that being said, here are the cars I want more than any others...

OP says 3 for 30k and you list 4 worth over 3/4 of a million.
I mean it would have been easy for me to say a 250 GTO, GT2 RS and a La Ferrari but that would have been stupid wouldn't it.

It will... If you follow the market History proves it. The collector market is cyclical. Not saying they will no longer be desired or will command money, just saying the entry level outrageous prices will stabilize. The market will not sustain a 1982 911 w/ 135,000miles for $60k. The lower produced models such as the 930s, RS, etc will still command money.
Case in point... MOPAR, C1, C2 Corvettes, etc.

87 FJ60. Last of the carb models in a slight fixer upper state, of course. I come across them on IH8MUD every now and then and wish I didnt have other home improvements to make first. It will happen though.

The E30 should be in everyone's short list here.
Incredibly fun to drive, cheap to open and pathetically easy to fix and a classic design that you can find for under 5k.
