I like in that poll that questions 4 and 5 are completely flipped

people think that race relations are bad in the country, but not in their community

so why exactly do they think race relations are so bad?

Other cities have done something similar and they just turn around and create other departments or use state/federal police for what the old department would do.

That’s what Defunding is aiming to do. Atleast the less radical version of it. Create specialized departments especially equipped to handle certain situations. Instead of asking a rent a cop in a gully suit to handle anything from a homeless guy sleeping on a street down to a drunk patron at your local bar up to a parole violation, you have people specifically tasked and trained to deal with issues in the community

The branding from the protestors/left has been so bad on this and of course it needs to be taken to the utmost extreme. I think a lot of Americans would support police reform, shifting funding, changing how officers are trained etc.

When you speak in absolutes like “abolish” and “defund” it (rightfully) scares people and divides them

"Defund" is the new buzz word. My guess is that only a few cities will completely dissolve their police departments. The ones that do go ahead with "defunding" will basically cut most of the resources that allow a police department to be effective. Experienced officers will say "GFY" and move on to other agencies. The city will then hire retards for pennies on the dollar, which will ultimately lead to bigger problems. Last but not least, all of the money that was earmarked for PDs, will now be diverted to "helping the communities" most affected by the former police. These "communities" will be represented by the likes of LaToya Cantrell who will proceed to mismanage and/or flat out steal this big influx of new funds. In the end, the tax payers will suffer, the city will become a bigger S-Hole, and the politicians will get rich. This is your Democrat run big city.

I’m impressed 19 percent admit they don’t know enough to give an informed opinion.

The actual number who don’t know enough to give an informed opinion at this point is 95% This thread is case in point.

some departments could use a massive makeover, especially the ones that have become basically city-run military.

And which cities/departments would these be? I travel all over the country and I've never seen a department with guys just marching around with SAWs or automatic weapons slung over their shoulder. Or cruising the streets in Bradleys.
This concept of "militarization of the police" is just an internet buzzword people parrot without any thought to what they're saying.

Well. Seems like there is confusion with their own message, because I’ve seen varying opinions all over the spectrum.
