Yes, but that doesn’t change the overall sentiment of the thread. However, I do realize you likely aren’t smart enough to understand this

Someone layed out a reasonable budget for 100k above. If you don’t think adding 3000-3500 a month to it after taxes etc makes things more comfortable and not borderline, it’s you that’s not very smart.

As noted multiple times, that list is extremely conservative and likely nets you less than a million dollars for retirement. So if you think a couple with 2 kids should have to work into their 70s and MAYBE have enough to retire with the hope of not having any end of life care, then I guess we can just agree to disagree.

If the pay remains stagnant and the expenses do, agree. They won’t.

I think a couple with kids young enough to have childcare expenses, who is earning 150k today is very likely to be earning 200-250k in 5-10 years. If you disagree it’s under stable, you likely plateaued early in life.

What two people with advanced degrees are only earning 100k a year combined or close to it?
ALOT are “only” making around $150k
My wife and I make about that much. I have an advanced degree with 11 years of work experience. She has a high school diploma
150K is not a lot

I make $180K a year and have more money than I know what to do with and save at a 40%-45% clip and I'm going on my SECOND trip of the year next month after Christmas with my gf.

$180k and $100k are not the same, especially if you have a wife and kids, which you obviously do not. You're an extreme outlier high-earner with little else to spend money on. Congrats, don't frick it up

Today I learned that costs don’t go up and there’s no such thing as buying power.
The entire point of the thread is wages are not rising with inflation you block headed idiot

Yep even with mine in public school (thank god we moved from south LA) I would wager they still cost a good $5,000 a year each to raise between food, clothes and sports, doctors visits, gifts etc. that doesn’t take into account the hundreds a month extra for them to drive plus extra phone bills.

unless they are absolute retards when it comes to budgeting and household finances, they don't have to.
