Buddy, where do you live? $1,500 per kid is easily the norm for full time daycare. Some exceed $2,000.

Pretty much all most of you do is throw insults. Fine do whatever you want. I’m just trying to help you succeed.

Look at your past and current spending habits. Be honest with yourself. I’m living in the same time as you so I experience inflation like you as well. Why are some of you “struggling” when my accounts are steadily going up? And I’m retired before 55.

who the frick said we are struggling?

we are smart enough to understand what are incomes are compared to the median....also smart enough to understand what inflation has done to those in the median...that is what we are bitching about

as far as retiring at 55....brother right now, nobody knows shite about when they can retire unless their healthcare is covered for life. There is so much going on with that...that anyone saying they can retire by such and such age is truely dumb AF

if just talking money wise, i could retire before 55, but I can say when i will retire due to the changing nature of the cost of insurance and healthcare and no telling where it will be in 22-25 years when i qualify for medicare.

i missed that part...well no wonder he feels he can retire early. Im 43 and could already be retired if I didnt have kids

jesus no wonder he is a miserable prick. childless and still thinks things like an astros or lsu games are luxuries only for the rich

I would be miserable too if I had nobody and was poor too.

Would you care to chime in on what color my Ferrari 308/328 that I’m in the market for should be? Red or yellow?

Yall really are very angry. Must suck to be miserable like yall are. I knew yalll would rationalize your spending habits but I didn’t think yall would get this angry.

None of us matter Mingo. Thought you would know this. Have some peace and not be so abusive. Maybe this will help:

Unless you got extremely lucky in buying a forever home on zippo rates, who has a 3-4BR home for a family with a mortgage less than $3,500 anywhere that is substantially populated?

We moved further East in Dallas out of our 3-2, 1800 sqft home to a house that is 1000sqft bigger, bought for the same price as we sold and our mortgage is almost double at 6.75%.

We’re not “hurting” but with daycare coming at $1500/month, it’s not sunshine and roses with what my wife and I make combined. 10-15 years ago, at our salary, we’d be building significant wealth. There’s basically no reality where she could consider not working.

We have a $400 car payment that will be paid off next year and I drive a paid off 10 year old Jeep GC.

This economy is legitimate problem. I estimate our net worth will be 1/3 to 1/2 what it could have been had we started our family 10-15 years ago. I hate to think about folks in Dallas who are right at 6 figures. They’re “fine” but the wealth building opportunity at that income range has substantially declined from what it was.

Weird times ahead… hopefully we get our parents 1985-2025 wealth building opportunity but hard to see it from where I sit now.

This is all absolutely correct. I often get laughed at on here for saying a couple making a little over $200k in Dallas is barely getting by but it is true. If you're a first time homebuyer in DFW your monthly payment alone will be $4500-5000 with 10% down

Heck, just today, Dallas morning news released a survey on how much money a family needs to make in DFW before they feel financially comfortable. The answer was $285k for a family of 5

You’re an idiot if you think this.

There are a wide variety of situations that come into effect…. Let’s not lump everyone into one category.

$100k with a wife and 2 kids living in a semi desirable and safe area , it’s definitely possible.

Sounds like you live in an area you can barely afford. $1500/month for daycare is absolutely ridiculous.

$3500 per month is pretty inexpensive for a house payment in Dallas

$1500 per month is on the low end of normal for good childcare in a larger city

Oh I know what today’s social norms are and I understand why. That’s my point. It used to not be this way and why younger people think older ones had it easier. We didn’t. Yall just spend too much on stuff to an extent we never did.

Yes I do. I’m really fascinated by human behavior and psychology. I read and watch people. What they say, and do and why. I probably should have been a psychiatrist.

I pay insurance, gas, food, clothes, taxes, and have friends that talk about child expenses. Yall talk about it here as well.

wtf are you walking about?

"ya'll"

im in my 40s and i make plenty trust me. Mingo is younger but he is the same way.

I never said anything about hurting, neither did he

but what used to not be that away? blue collar people couldnt got to LSU or astros games? do you realize how stupid you sound saying that?

go enjoy your hermit lifestyle on your 100k a year. Ill take mine over yours anyday and I will sure take the ability to understand why this economy is killing younger people

and I also understand the value of the dollar, but let me break it down for you

the average household income in 1995 was 40,200. which is almost 90k in todays dollars. the median today is only 83k.

purchasing power has went down big time and in terms of real wages, median household income is lower today.

the median cost for a house was 115k in 1995, it is was 419k in the 4th quarter of 2024.

the median cost of a new car was 17,900 in 95, 50,800

tell me mister finance....if $100 in 1995 is worth ~$185 today....does it look like that same ratio held up for housing and car prices?

NO IT frickING DOESNT!!

do you want to get into the cost of even a trailer now compare to then? or groceries or gas or anything?

no you dont, because you dont have a leg to stand on and too fricking stupid to understand real wages and buying power.
