You can’t have no income coming in, spend money, and not touch savings. That’s literally impossible

My savings accounts didn't get touched one bit. Cash is still king if you haven't figure it out yet.

Well, I guess most of the cash you handle involves pumping quarters into the local self-serve car wash bay...

We might be in a K economy right now, but when the recession starts it will be bad, because a lot of people have no savings and lots of debt.

quote:

This recession, when it lands, will not be a repeat of 2008. The dangers are different — and in some ways, more permanent. In past crises, job losses came from factories shutting down or banks imploding. This time, layoffs are happening in sleek glass towers and corporate boardrooms. Artificial intelligence has given companies a new way to cut costs. No need for pink slips or awkward meetings — just one software update and an entire department disappears. The human cost is invisible but immense. People aren’t just losing their jobs; they’re losing their purpose. And this time, there’s little guarantee those jobs will return.

For decades, Americans were told that education was the insurance policy against economic despair. Get a degree, specialize, stay adaptable. But AI is rewriting that promise. Algorithms are encroaching on white-collar work — writing reports, analyzing data, even producing art and code. The recession ahead won’t just shrink paychecks; it will shrink relevance.

Fair enough. However, what J listed could certainly be paired back some more.

I get that times are challenging, but I also realize that a LOT of money is spent on discretionary items.

You're not paying any less than that in any city for a decent place to live.

Every time you post trying to lecture anyone about anything related to finances, this is what most of us see...

Except instead of scuffed up 2nd/3rd hand Bentleys it's an Acura TLX.

You’re constantly being called out for lying in every thread you post and then just switch to shitty attempts at insults once you realize you’re out of your breadth.

Be better

4 gallons of Great Value 2% milk are consumed in my house each week = $17.18 added to the budget.

Just with that we're at 20% of his $150/wk budget. Now we're down to $1.14 per serving per meal.

Pull your britches up bud, explain to your children that they need to make some sacrifices for the family and wait until dinner time to eat. If not go get a 2nd job big guy
