-Ben Crump, probably.
Would he be wrong?
It is all going to depend upon whether or not he still had the knife in his posession.

At least one of them should have had their weapon already drawn.

Well call me SHOCKED!
"he was shot while running toward her..." Well yeah. He was probably going to kill her.
Of course, she is named after a tree so I am guessing she isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Great. Now the commies will protest and riot for that idiot, like they did for the POS here in Madison who pulled a knife and stabbed a police officer before he was shot and killed.

There is no way anyone is being prosecuted for this.

Orrrrr, or running at someone with his knife. You think officers cant shoot someone in the back? Its just off limits no matter what?

As it turns out, this happened over 5 years ago.
The investigation was closed and no charges file. The family has not yet been successful with any kind of lawsuit.

You did not quote the part of my post that mentioned that it would be contingent upon whether or not he still had possession of the knife.
Anyway, this is a 5+ year-old case. The investigation is over. So far, no one has been punished.
As far as shooting a fleeing perp in the back, I believe the standard is that LEO considers him to be a danger to the public in order to justify it. Obviously, in this case, they were able to do that.

Can anyone explain why they dont taze immediately? Why stand around ?
Pretty sure this is exactly why tasers were invented

The department had best be preparing themselves for a wrongful death lawsuit, and some of those LEO will need remedial training if they are allowed to keep their jobs.
Nah. They need training, but none of them will be disciplined here. I’m sure some idiot will sue, but that’s not going anywhere.

Tasers are pretty useless most of the time, and terrible at getting a good hit from the distances shown in the video.

Turns out this happened 5+ years ago and the investigation is over.
No one was charged with anything. Not sure about any internal discipline or training.

This is simply not true. Sure, distance hurts accuracy.
Knife was on the ground.
All cops should have had tasers drawn. Problem solved. Close the distance, when he reaches, zao him and its over.
FYI, guns did zero for protection! They killed him after he ran past
