Most of the comments are trying to vilify the Popeyes employees for calling the police. It may be an unpopular opinion but I am on their side. It is terrible for business to have beggars outside asking for food and I have purposely avoided establishments where this seems to happen frequently.

If you give food to a stray animal, more will come around. The only thing the homeless man needs is a swift kick in the nuts.

It's pretty no win.

I used to bring a homeless guy into a Caribou Coffee with me occasionally and get him whatever he wanted (food). He wasn't particularly weird or anything, but it definitely wasn't something the employees loved, and I understand that.

The reality is that letting someone do it isn't going to open some floodgate that is going to get the business shut down, but I understand where they're coming from.

I'm not on their side at all. If I'm buying food, it's not their business what I do with it.

They can call the cops to have the homeless man removed if he's a problem. They shouldn't vilify the woman for being decent to him.

So if the woman gave the homeless guy money, and the homeless man bought his own food, you'd support the restaurant saying "sorry, we don't serve homeless people"?

Bunch of do gooders who don’t understand how their “charity” only makes things worse.

Let’s be honest for a second. If she gave him some money it would be spent on smack and booze.

homelessness outside of true mental illness (not depression or ADHD) is a choice.

Typical response I’d expect from a Popeyes employee.

This. While I understand where Popeye's is coming from, don't fricking tell me what I can do with what I purchase.

I don't care that the store didn't serve him, whatever, seems a little shitty to me but why the frick did they call the cops. That just seems entirely unnecessary.

Yeah we should help all these disgusting homeless people by locking them up.
Quit tolerating the homeless and you won’t have any homeless. Just like with rats and pigeons.

Ortega responded, "Why? He’s asking for food?"

"Ma’am, you can’t do it. I could care less about you recording me, baby," another employee replied before shutting the drive-thru window.

Not saying calling the cops was warranted, but it sounds like she was trying to make a scene.

Just go to the McDs, BK, Wendy’s or whatever I’m sure was down Ponce De Leon…why stay there and argue with a freaking drive through worker?
