Go to a walk-in clinic and get a cortisone shot.

This and apply benadryl liberally every few hours.

this - he's got it figure'd out - haven't gotten any since last ranter posted it

and like Jiggy Moondust said, Clorox it. Chlorine bleach will both neutralize and dry it up. Trick is knowing how much you can tolerate. Me I go full strength on a wash cloth... my brother has to dilute with water or i'll physically burn him. Apply daily for two or three days.

Put mineral salt on a rag, rub the poison ivy hard.

This will hurt.

The mineral salt will quickly dry out the poison ivy and make it go away

It doesn’t spread. Make sure all clothing that came in contact is washed with soap.

I had a watch that had the plants oils on it. And kept spreading it every time I put it on.

If the area is contained you can run it under hot water slowly increasing the heat as you can tolerate it. This will deplete the histamine from the cells in the area and works better the. The histamine blockers that have to be re applied.

As far as time, you have to wait until the layer of skin naturally falls off

The poison ivy oils attack and bond to the skin after 20-30 minutes. If washed immediately after c tact you can prevent the bond. Otherwise. Only time will remove it

I don't know what it is but I've never suffered a poison ivy rash. I go outdoors frequently and tramp around the woods from time to time. Don't know if I've always had good washing habits (I've always washed my skin thoroughly with soap when I go back inside) or what; I do know what it looks like and actively avoid it when I do see it.

I had it 50 times.

This is the only answer. It will be gone in a day. Most places will want to give you a booster shot two days later as well.

Dont frick around with home remedies. Just got to the doc and get the shot

rip up a brown paper bag into strips and soak in apple cider vinegar. apply baking soda to the affected areas and cover with the cider soaked strips. it makes it feel maybe a little better - poison ivy is just gonna suck no matter what you do though.

calamine lotion won't do anything but ruin your clothes.

Trust me on this....it works. The key to curing (and especially preventing) a poison ivy rash is to get the invisible ivy oil off of your skin. That stuff will stay on you for a week and continue to cause a rash if all you do is take your typical shower. Imagine that your body, and especially your hands were covered in thick, old, motor oil. Now clean yourself with a rag and grease cutting Dawn dishwashing soap like you have never bathed yourself before. Especially wash your face and eyes if you think it got on your hands and you may have wiped your eyes. If you don't use a rag and grease cutting soap, all you are doing when you first shower after contact with poison ivy is smearing the oil over more of your body. Your body will very quickly heal a rash if the oil is removed.

Grew up hunting most of my life. Always got it in the spring and the fall every year. I swear I can watch it on TV and get it.

My first trip to the Caribbean back in the early 2000's, I got some bad rash from some plant there on the first day. Thought i was going to have to fly home immediately. Doc at the resort got me a steroid shot there and it took care of it in one day.

Got it last year for the first time in a while. Immediately went and got the shot. Its the only way to go

I knew all of this--except that it was like axle grease and as hard to get off.

Informative video.

The insidious thing about this stuff is that you get more sensitive to it with each exposure.

I wonder if it's an allergic reaction--some people don't react to it?
