My buddy wants to buy a lot in an “upper tier” neighborhood in either Baton Rouge or somewhere close to br(ascension parish)...
His budget is 500k — 999k (for the lot and house build) —what would your top 5 neighborhoods(with avail lots for sale) list look like?

I mentioned u-club , ccla, Stoney point, etc..what are some other spots that you would mention?

He already lives in br..is a transplant form out of town, and isn’t happy with his current home..he wants bigger house/bigger yard/lot size/“better neighborhood”

Bocage.

But two lots in there just went for around $700,000 a piece.

That’s right, $700,000 just for the dirt.

Buy an older house in a nice established neighborhood, tear down the house and build what he wants. Get a house in a good location, mature trees and value will appreciate.

I know someone with a 1/2 acre lot for sale in a small neighborhood off Highland. Lot backs up to protected wetlands and has a unique elevation. Bought it long time ago when he thought his kids were going to be in school at St. George. Think lot is under $150k.

with that kind of budget I wouldn't pick anywhere close to BR. Maybe up in West Feliciana.
