It wasn't a thing when I was active Corps, late 70s -mid eighties, I learned it later.

Never seen anybody fired for it,but have seen some damn mad managers and engineers about it.
It has some power.

They didn't get fired, they got "run off". And you don't quit a job, you "drag up".

We used to do that before football practice in high school. Now I'm interested in who started this strange ritual.

Just walk on a circle chanting Hoya hoya hoya. But not today. This weather is too nice

There are times I could really use an anti-rain turtle. Do those work?

Can't remember where I heard about rain turtles.
I only did it once during a drought 4 or 5 years ago as a joke and I'll be damned if a little thunder popper didn't pop up an hour later almost right over my house.

It's not if you want it to rain, but if the turtle gets too wet you go home. In construction anyway.

Those rain turtles have been around a long time. I saw them about 40 years ago when I became a pipe-fitter.

I wasn't aware this was a "plant workers" concept, but we all used this in the minors when we were playing in a town with no indoor facilities.
Helps if you spit in it.
