I do know a guy who got fired from two good jobs for doing that though. He wasn’t in the purchasing groups at either place, but he managed to get into all kinds of crap over the years

Agreed.
Personally I don't take more than a meal. I won't lie I will get a nice bottle of wine once a quarter or so at a vendor/supplier dinner, but thats it.
