Seems like training anywhere near airspace that busy is a bad idea

Train in the desert or BFE western VA

I’m all for training flights but how about we don’t do training flights around the busiest airport in the US

You aren't wrong but most of us watched planes flown into buildings.
I get that and I witnessed it too but there’s a stark difference between that and this.

KSN news in Wichita just reported the plane splitting in 2 that was posted a page or two ago. Crazy how much faster other online sources are than news media now. Makes you wonder how it stays relevant.

I posted that guess on page 4 here we don’t live up to quite the same scrutiny as national media (unless it’s political motivated)

“that was a big helicopter that flew in the landing path of the CJ. Helicopter engulfed and plane went straight down in a couple pieces based on that video”

The outcome of this survival wise will be very bad. Really sad all around.

PAT saw the wrong landing aircraft. Traffic call wasn’t clean. Should have been “PAT, traffic on three mile final for rwy 33 is a CRJ, report traffic in sight”. PAT said “we have the aircraft in sight”

Look at that chat. Poor guy is like most of us where our wife texts us way more than we text them.

helo was 200 ft below the crj and climbed up into it. The crj crew weren't going to see it below them

It’s possible the helicopter was visible, but pretty much guaranteed that the pilots wouldn’t have been looking in that direction, as they were rolling out onto their final approach course.

ETA: And based on the radar track, the airplane was likely wings high in a turn for most of the time the helicopter could have been visible.

Training flight” - the crew was stationed out of Fort Belvoir. Per Fox. fricking bs. Over 60 civilians dead so the Army can conduct a training flight.

Well we aren’t at war and they were in the states, what kinda flight do you think it would have been? The military calls a huge percent of what they do “training”.

Yea I’m with you peej. It’s starting to feel more and more like this is going to be a no survivor situation.

Like I said earlier just sucks knowing there’s people here hurting, regardless if it’s anyone I know or not, and will be for a while. I’m not from here but have been here long enough to know Wichita is full of great people who have been good to me.

It was like 10-20 seconds from landing

Part of training would be flying in congested airspace.

You kind of have to know how to do it before being sent in with a VIP...

A lot of "training" is basically staying in practice I would guess. Like the NG guys flying out of Truax (Madison) to do faux missions over WI.
