you sound like a commie

China has identified all of the leaders of this protest over the past few months. The reward is going to be a couple thousand of those folks getting swooped up and sent to a vacation camp on the mainland. Probably very limited shooting in order to manage the optics. Just lots of people being loaded onto buses never to be seen again.
Once that happens, the other protesters will have to make decisions about being in the second wave or heading back to school
China does not want to frick up HK as a financial center so I suspect that is as hard as they go

Considering the China “social policy”, I’m wondering how many of that “second wave” are so thoroughly fricked already that they may as well keep on.

With all the money in Hong Kong I'm sure there's a stockpile of weapons in a warehouse over there.

Lol. Probably right. This will go down similar to st Louis riots in 2017. Water cannons, tv coverage and then back to normal.

What did they think would happen upon being “returned” to China by the UK?

From the reddit live feed:
"Terrible moment. A man suspected of being Chinese police, but who apparently has collapsed, is not being allowed onto an ambulance. It’s been going on for hours. I’m watching the desperate attempt to let medics treat him, being blocked by some protesters."
"Protesters now screaming at reporters standing above check in desks taking photos and filming crowd. “Journalist mother fricker,” some shouted. Claimed at least one was a cop."
"Its all so ugly and angry and nihilistic. Asked kids who said he was faking what if he wasn’t, they said who cares. Asked what if he dies, who cares. Asked them what they think will happen if he is a cop and he dies, “so they shutdown HK? Good! We are ready for it, we want it.”
Wow. What a terrible situation.

When the government doesn’t give a shite about the individual because they have reserves, don’t be surprised when that attitude filters down to the population at large.

Some of these kids don’t understand that China isn’t very concerned with optics.
You have seized an airport and a cop has died (if that happens). No country is going to put up with that for very long before bringing in the big black boots.

Chairman Mao will rejoice as harmony and balance in the world is slowly restored too right?

South African ex-pat living in Hong Kong breaks down and expresses her thoughts
If you don’t think foreigners aren’t getting their shite out of dodge right now you are crazy. There aren’t enough private planes available in Hong Kong right now since that’s the only flights available to gtfo

Do you really think someone is going to jump in and save Hong Kong from China? It’s a lost cause.
Now Taiwan would be a different story since that’s considered a sovereign nation by many nations. Hong Kong is their territory.
If China does not contain this and there are protests in their cities as well and if their government is toppled, it could be catastrophic. We will enter a global recession for many many years. All those boomers’ 401K would turn to thrash. I don’t think a global recession and our wealth deduction is worth all this mess in Hong Kong.

I know troops are coming in and the commercial airport is shut down.
My question is whether the PLA has shut down the roads to the mainland and whether their navy has shut down exits.
Because getting to Macao as a stepping stone to getting the frick out sounds like a good plan for any non-Chinese citizen.

So you are saying Should they gamble by going to Macao or stay in Hong Kong?

Believe it or not, What made Tienamen Square possible was the fax machine.
