Kid running full sprint AWAY(no question about hands in pockets or looking back at cops) gets gunned down?

"Pennsylvania law allows police officers to use deadly force to prevent someone from escaping arrest if that person has committed a forcible felony, possesses a deadly weapon or if the person has indicated he or she will endanger human life or inflict bodily injury if not arrested."

They just did a drive by shooting, cops will rightfully cleared.

And this will get more coverage than the NJ mass shooting conducted by a couple of black gangs in a dispute, but hey its OK.

I would think that situation definitely qualifies as a Hold them at Gunpoint until Backup arrives type of scenario.

Except what's the point of holding them at gunpoint if they can just run and you can't shoot?

It used to be crystal clear that guns were tools for compliance as well as self defense weapons. Now people seem to want to restrict it only to the latter, basically stripping the cops of most of their power to enforce.

cop is usually glad I informed him there's a gun in the car, made him feel at ease with the whole setup.

by the way, that routine has also resulted in a 100% decrease in tickets. cop is usually glad I informed him there's a gun in the car, made him feel at ease with the whole setup.

when I get pulled over it's lightning fast.

I passed by slowly rubber-necking at a LSP on i-10 removing a gun from a guy's car in a stop. He's all carefully pulling out what looked like a 357(big frickin revolver). They were laughing and owner was showing off the gun by the time we got by them.

TLDR I think you're correct. Cops like legally carrying gun-owners who do what they're supposed to do.

Without clicking a link, I’m gonna guess that the cop was white and the ‘victim’ was black

I only say that because it’s a TJgator thread

I have no problem with this guess being completely wrong though

Who cares about news coverage? If those responsible are brought forward to pay the consequences then justice is served.

Right. I guess when they pull you over you just say "officer I have a [insert weapon] in my console if you wanna inspect it?"

Something like that?
I have no clue about this shite. I carry a tire gauge and a laptop.

Obviously didn't have one when he ran? Based on whose x-ray vision?

quote:

Tennessee v. Garner, 471 U.S. 1 (1985)[2], is a civil case in which the Supreme Court of the United States held that, under the Fourth Amendment, when a law enforcement officer is pursuing a fleeing suspect, the officer may not use deadly force to prevent escape unless "the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others."
