You just need to patiently explain to her the meaning of selected service & what your son has to do to be safely within the terms of service as a citizen of the USA.

When my oldest daughter turned 18, I took her to the registrar of voters, then to the Post Office the register for the draft. Imagine my surprise!

Why did it piss her off? I think my wife thought it was optional when my 18 year old was talking about it the other day. She didn’t want him to sign up.
By the time you’re 16 year old is 18, I don’t even think he’ll have to do anything. If I’m not mistaken, they made it automatic enrollment
