I can't imagine what was going through those men's minds as the landing crafts approached Omaha Beach.
So many of them never even got out the craft before being killed by machine gun fire and so many of them who had to jump into the water simply drowned due to the weight of their own equipment strapped to them.

Damn, a lot of us were in Hawaii that day! We were on Kauai so I wasn't worried, it probably wouldn't be the target. I cracked a minifridge beer and started watching zoolander while my wife freaked out and started texting and calling relatives.
