I have an honest question for people who live in such small towns: what do you do for fun out there?
There can't be a lot of places to go, or eat out. I'm sure there's plenty of outdoor things to do - but aside from that, what do you do for entertainment?

You find things. Four wheelers and shite. Hang out with friends and like you said there is a ton of outdoors stuff to do, and yes we do visit cities like Lincoln and Omaha to do things. But overall in terms of living, rural is worlds better than urban.

To each his own I guess. My happy medium is a place that has lots of options for entertainment (dining, shopping, bars, etc)....but is also really close to lots of outdoor recreation and natural, beautiful scenery as well.
San Diego would be a perfect example for me.

I've got family that lives in LaGrange,IL, one of the coolest little towns I've been in, it's like the town in A Christmas Story, everyone walks up and down Main St. at night, lots of stuff to do around there, and just minutes away from Chicago, I could easily live there

I am pretty sure my street has over 2,000 people living on it and it is only 11 blocks long with a park taking up 6 blocks on one side.
